In this thread I asked Christopher Robin Davies if we could take our discussion from the closed spoiler thread to the open spoiler thread. Twickster comes from nowhere with this post.. It’s not the biggest deal in the world, but it struck me as a little rude and abrupt, especially since I hadn’t asked any mod to do anything.
This probably doesn’t really merit it’s own thread, but I don’t think we’re allowed to say “What the hell?” in response to mod notes outside of ATMB, so here it is. It just seems like a rather snippy response to a request I didn’t even make.
Only moderators and administrators can physically move posts from one thread to the other, so it’s logical that twickster would consider your request to be, well, a request for action.
That was what you meant, correct? I see that the posting was referenced in the other thread so really nothing more need to be said or done on the issue.
If you had been the originator of that posting she would have moved it to that other thread. Since you were not the originator she said no, we don’t do that.
She’s not rude here. She is short – we all have lots to do and not always gobs of time to do these things in. If you mistake that for rudeness that is unfortunate but I’m sure that was not her intent.
Twicks was just saying you should pull the quotes you want to “unspoil” into another thread, like this:
instead of asking her to do it…which is what she thought you wanted her to do. She didn’t realize you were just asking if another poster wanted to start another thread.
ETA, for clarification, did you want to start a new thread or did you want a mod to move a handful of posts over to a new thread for you?
Like I said, it’s not a big deal. I just meant that CRDcould reply to me in the open spoiler thread, not that anything needed to be moved. And while I’m here, appreciation to Ms. Whatsit for cross posting the posts.
Your post was reported by a third party as a request that someone wanted a post or posts moved to a different thread. When I read the post, that’s also what it sounded like to me.
Since that request did not come from the person whose post it was, I explained how to quote posts from one thread to a different thread. That way people could conveniently address the spoiler-boxed issue in the open spoilers thread if they wanted to do so – by them quoting, not by me moving.
I’m sorry if you found my mod note excessively terse. It was not my intention to offend you.
Larry, your statement was just vague enough to sound like a request for a moderator action, not merely a request to the person you were conversing with to continue the conversation where you could talk more openly.
Twicks got a heads up from someone else that misinterpreted, and that helped her interpret the remark the same way, so she tried to explain why she wouldn’t move someone else’s comments for you, but how you could cross quote material if you desired.
I don’t think her tone was rude, but being terse is sometimes interpreted that way.
