Question about House

I haven’t seen an episode of House in at least a couple of years.

I just watched what I think must have been this last season’s premier last night. House lost his entire team? Do they ever come back? If not, was there some “behind-the-scenes” reason for this, like, the actors were asking for too much money or something?

I just looked at the episode list from Wikipedia for season four and I see that Cameron shows up for one episode, and Foreman for a few more. So I guess they’re permanently gone? (Or does Foreman stick around?)

And was there something behind the scenes?

House eventually chooses a new team (after several weeks of elimination). Cuddy hires Foreman back to be a member of the team along with House’s choices. Cameron and Chase are still at the hospital, but Cameron is working in the emergency department, and Chase is a surgeon.

I don’t know if there were any behind-the-scenes reasons other than the writers and producers wanting to shake things up.

Almost every episode includes one of the Cottages in one form or another.

Quick answer–the three actors who comprised his team still appear in most of the episodes still (all 3 work in the same hospital), but their parts have been dramatically reduced. Of the 3, Foreman (the black one) has the most screen time now because he still works directly with House. Chase (the Aussie) works in surgery, IIRC, and Cameron (the chick) works in the ER.

I don’t think there were any negotiation issues. All 6 of the principals (House, the Cottages, Wilson & Cuddy) still receive top billing throughout this season. The new team Kutner (the Indian), Taub (the balding one) and 13 (the bi-chick) weren’t finalized 'til mid-season. It remains to be seen if they join the opening credits, or if the original team’s roles reduce any more next year.

I think they felt like they’d taken things as far as they could with the current set of characters, so they decided that rather than getting all soap opera and having the characters steadily do wierder and wierder things, that they’d expand the cast and bump down the old characters a notch.

In the long run, I think this will probably be a good thing, but the season itself never had a chance to really delve into the new characters since it spent half of it in the Survivor-like selection process and the other half in the season finale lead-up which was principally a House/Wilson matter.

Okay, I thought I was a ‘House’ fan but I don’t get this… why ‘cottages’? Did I miss something?

Cottages = little houses. :smiley:

I like that term better than “Ducklings,” which some folks use to describe the doc’s team.

Neat. Thanks for the explanation.

It’d be interesting to see if their contracts changed at all. Chase and Cameron appeared very little this season. Wonder if they were paid full salaries for essentially doing cameos.
