when they film porn, it’s sometimes in really nice expensive looking houses. who owns these houses? why would someone who had all that money let somebody come in and have sex all over the place? how much do they get paid to allow porn stars to have sex there?
not only that, a lot of times the sex is messy and they spooge all over the carpet and couch. what happens to the couch? do they throw them away or do they end up in a consignment store in van nuys? yuck!
is there a company you can call to cleaen your house after a porno shoot, to make sure that all the spooge and lube is cleaned up?
It is a business, albeit a strange one, like any other. There are permissions people who arrange to film in locales, and to pay for the privilege. On the other hand, I suppose it is easier to film on a sound stage. No need for transporting all you people and stuff to a location. No reason why a mansion cannot be filmed on a sound stage.
(Porn uses very modest sets, many of them are in Culver City, IIRC. A number of firms provide ready-made sets (hotel rooms, tropical beach) for common situations.)
I have never heard of p0rn being done in Culver City. Chatsworth in the San Fernando Valley is the p0rn capitol of the USA. Most of the big video firms are headquartered there. Their sound stages are also there.
Many movies are shot on rented houses. Every so often the LA Times will carry a story about how a neighbor complained when it turned out the outdoor shots were not as private as they should have been.
I’ve read articles before about people in upperclass neighborhoods complaining about another rich neighbor filming pornos in their backyard or whatever. Also I saw a vid recently where two women were filming a lesbian scene that looked to involve a dildo and the woman next door peeked over the fence and said “I’m calling the cops!” and totally scared the crap out of the pornstars.
And in fact is a cheaper lookalike to real fine furniture. As in, not real leather, but good upper-end vinyl.
If you watch enough of not just porn but low-budget direct-to-vid in general, you will eventually be able to notice that for a specific time period or production studio, a particular house or outdoors venue are used repeatedly, and only the furniture is rearranged, or the setup shots are taken from uphill instead of downhill, between one video and the next.
I’ve noticed that in certain “series” scenes, not only is it the same house, but the same room. And often the male star is in every scene. Now I realize that some of those guys are megastuds, but when there are 30+ such scenes, this suggests to me a more permanent setup. No way is one guy so potent as to, ahem, shoot 30+ times in one morning. And it seems highly unlikely that 30+ starlets could be persuaded to show up on that same morning.
More then just that. Often times they film the same scene from two different angles, then they can play it from one angle for a few seconds and then go to the exact same part and play it from the other angle. This is one of the tricks they can use to make a guy look like he can last a long time.
Ron Jeremy has a number of stories about filming in private houses in the Valley in his book The Hardest (Working) Man In Show Business. They confirm most of the above info: they borrow houses from friends who may/may not know what goes on, and they have professional cleaners who repair any damage.
It’s a business. There are several “modeling” agencies that specialize in girls in the business and list them as willing to do cheesecake, nude photography, or porn, and then by what individual scenes they are willing to do. They have hundreds of girls in their registers. Put in an order for 30 girls and you’ll get 30 girls.
It’s a little more complicated than ordering 30 pizzas, but not much more. And you’ll be more likely to get all the toppings right.
::: Scene::: Guys dials for a pizza, gets the wrong number
Hi I’d like a large combo with everything on it
::: Thirty minutes later the door bell rings, music fades in:::
