question about leaving foreskin retracted

I’m cut, so this is why I ask, BTW. If an intact man leaves his foreskin retracted, (i.e. not replacing over the glands), is his harming himself? (Yeah, I didn’t explain it right)

Paging JDT.

who’s JDT? Did I do a “bad bad thing”?

No, JDT was a poster who was obsessed with circumcision. He was before my tie, but I think he was either strongly for or strongly against.

Strongly against.

Right. All the evil in the world is due to circumcision, was his angle. Pardon my typo, I’m typing one-handed. No, not like that, my kitty is asleep on it. (And aww, she’s so cute.)

Well, not being circumcised, I can tell you, that trying to leave your skin retracted is impossible unless you are overly dry or use some kink contraption.

Are you trying to compare cut to uncut? There was a study out some time ago that stated cut men did not lose any sensation.

I don’t believe he would. Afterall, us intact guys are like that all the time. I’m wondering how he would “leave” it retracted. Superglue? rubberbands? paper clips?

And it has been 2 years. I think we can put JDT to rest.

Thanks for the answers! I’m cut, never seen intact penis IRL, so I asked. (It’s an odd ?, admitedly)

Oh, no. PLEASE not again!

As MrTuffPaws says, you can’t leave it retracted. It will zoom over the head in no time at all.
Unless of course you have been the gents room put it back in your jocks without ensuring that it has fully covered the head and you get pubes caught in it.
That kinda hurts.

I leave mine retracted for hygiene reasons - very rarely does it “zoom” in a pube-snagging incident.

I’ve seen many uncut penises[li] and many of them had the skin retracted. Bunched up, sort of. I guess some foreskins are longer than others, and/or some penises shrink less when flaccid. [/li]
Only because I live in a country where circumcision is rare and public baths are common.

When I was a kid, and well into puberty, I was careful to keep it in the hooded mode, except for washing (and, once puberty arrived, masturbation.) The result was that the part of the foreskin that was way out at the end was a smaller diameter. When Big Olaf became erect, that ring of skin got stretched and itchy. I had the usual spontaneous erections during puberty, and the itching was a nasty distraction. I got in the habit of leaving it pulled back, and eventually the skin grew to the necessary size.

So, if your foreskin will stay back, I recommend leaving it back.

Also not being circumcised, I can tell you that you shouldn’t state universals based on a single data point, no matter how closely you have studied it.

Speak for yourself.

I’m uncircumcised and my foreskin will stay retracted with no problem.
Also doesn’t require “some kind contraption”.

And to answer the original post:
No, it will not cause any harm to leave the foreskin retracted. It does feel more comfortable when the foreskin is down due to the sensitive surface touching underwear, bed sheets, cloths, etc.

Once again, thanks! This is the type of ignorance (or at least MY ignorance) the SDMB is here for.

Slight Highjack: How do you measure sensitivity in the penis between guys? Most guys only know how their penis has felt since puberty (when it starts to matter). I personally have nothing to compare it to, as in before/after-wise. I am circumsized, and I would have to say that I must have lost some sensitivity, since rubbing against the pants is not a problem unless it is being done with the express purpose of inciting an erection. What was the point of me telling this to you people? Oh, fuck it, I’ll post it anyway.

I’ve wondered this too. My guess is that it is mostly anecdotal testimony from men who got circumcised as adults.
