Question about profile content

I really have no opinion one way or another on this issue, but it seems like it would be helpful if a couple questions about content displayed in profiles could be answered, because otherwise a certain other discussion about avatars is never going to end. Please note that these questions are completely outside the context of avatars. Assume we are talking about regular users who care nothing about any avatar add-on script.

  1. Is it ok to put NSFW URLs in our profiles without an NSFW indicator?
  2. Is it ok to put NSFW URLs in our profiles with an NSFW indicator?
  3. Is a URL placed in our profile even considered a “link”, given that it cannot be made clickable?

Please, no debate about avatars. I just want to know what the mods think about these three questions in the standard SDMB context. This is not a trap, it’s just a few questions that I think will help clarify the rules and possibly put an end to some annoying bickering.

Let me be the first to be outraged by the jackboots’ response, whatever it is.

In Firefox at least, it can: just highlight and it will ask you if you want to open it in a new tab or window.

Also, if you put the NSFW link in the ‘home page URL’ it will show as a clickable link when someone clicks your screen name in a thread.

  1. No.
  2. Yes.
  3. Yes.

I will remember that for the future.

I will add that links to pornography, or to excessively offensive or disgusting images (in our sole judgement), would not be permitted even with an NSFW warning.

Thanks
