Question about the guy who attacked the umpire last night in Chicago

I saw a picture of Eric Dybas (the AssHat who ran onto the field and attacked 1st base umpire Laz Diaz during the White Sox-Royals game last night at Comisky Park) and he had a bandage wrapped around his head and there was a good deal of blood soaking through. But I didn’t see him bleeding when he was being dragged from the field last night.

So what gives? Did the White Sox security give him a few shots in the tunnel?*

*Which was the least that should have happened to him.

Apparently, he was kicked in the head by a few players. A few kicks to the head with metal cleats may not show up right away…

Isn’t this the 2nd time or so this has happened? (In the States at least)? I know people say “Kill the umpire”, but some people seem to be taking it as a challenge.

For the record, I know Eric in real life. In fact, I currently have the job he once had (erm… he wasn’t very good at it, trust me). He is, indeed, a world class asshat.

The second time it has ben publicized in the last year. Last September, a father and son attacked the Royals first base coach. Ironically (maybe), the same two teams played the the other night.

Two interesting points:

  1. The umpire is a Marine in the reserves.
  2. The guy was the fourth person that night to rush the field.

Beer sales will likely halt in Chicago…

I don’t think you could REALLY be a world class asshat unless you committed an incredibly stupid act on national television … and it was stupid enough to be rebroadcast in, say, Canada.

Didja hear about the guy who rushed the field in Detroit? They let him pitch! Ba-da-bum!

Today’s Chicago Tribune. The Sox will have to boost security at Comisky (or whatever stupid corporate name they’re calling it now) for the All-Star Game.

I miss Morganna.

asterion, I refuse to call it anything but “New Comisky Park” but that’s a topic for a Pit rant…

New catch phrase: “I’ll beat you like a White Sox fan.”

I’d just like to take this time to point out all of this idiocy occuring in the realm of the Chicago White Sox. Meanwhile, the Chicago Cubs continue to uphold the wonderousness that is baseball.
