When I go to the SDMB on my smartphone (android) it says there’s an app for SDMB called Tapatalk. I downloaded it. It notifies me when threads I’ve chimed in on are updated, and lets me read the board, etc, in a nice organized readable format so that’s good.
But when I get a notification of a thread update, and use the included link to go to that thread, I’m able to read the thread–but I’m not able to reply to it. I can reply to it if I just go to Tapatalk independently and click on a thread, but I can’t reply if I’m in the thread in response to an update-notification.
Any idea if there’s something I’m missing? Or is this just how it works?
Don’t know anything about Tapatalk – it’s an independent app that we have no control over, not sure how it works. (Not in possession of a smartphone.) But I would think you should be able to reply to threads you’re notified about … perhaps someone that uses Tapatalk will come along and advise. Sorry we’re not more help.
Like Irishman I don’t use the notifications, but I think it has to do with the board sign-in. When you go through the app (or the widget shortcut) tapatalk automatically signs you in, but when you hit the notification shortcut the app skips the sign in. Note: this is my personal theory, I could be wrong.
