I did something to Word at work and I don’t know what or how. When I open a new document, the top and bottom margins aren’t visible - all I get is a truncated page where typing starts at the very top.
I don’t like this. I want to see my page as it will print out. And for the life of me, I can’t figure out how to get the default to go back the way it was. How do I fix this?
Go up to “View” and select “Print Layout”
Thing is, you may already be in Print Layout, and you’ve inadvertently hidden the white space. If so, hover your cursor right at the top of the page (in the little sliver between the toolbars and the typing space). Your cursor should change to a small box with two arrows in it – one up, one down – and you may get a ScreenTip that says “Show White Space.” Click.
If that doesn’t work, position your cursor at the place where one page ends and the other begins. You may the cursor symbol transform itself into two little white squares stacked on top of each other, and the little notation “hide white space”. If so, at this point, click your mouse button. The view should change back to your normal view.
If this was the case, it’s easy to accidentally bring about this view situation by clicking your cursor just as you’re rolling it across the top/bottom demarcation of the page.
ETA: Beaten by three minutes!
Sorry for the delayed thanks, but thanks! Apparently I had hit “hide white space” without knowing. That’ll teach me to click indiscriminately.
