Question for guys: What "girly" drinks do you enjoy?

I like champagne cocktails on occasion. My usual drink is single malt scotch, neat.

Sidecar. It was invented by an Army captain in WW1, fer cri-yi. He had a motorcycle and driver, and the sidecar was how he traveled to and from the bar.

The idea of “girly drink” is ridiculous. If you like something, drink it, and don’t give a rat’s ass about what other people think.

I like lots of drinks – white and red wine, martinis, margaritas, Beam’s (“Smoooooth”) Choice, whiskey sours, gin and tonic, Smirnoff Ice, Woodchuck Cider. I don’t worry if some half-wit is going to call any one of them a “girly drink.”

Fuzzy navels. "Premium Malt Beverage"s such as Bacardi Silver. Wine coolers.

Good to hear whiskey sours are not “girly”, I often wondered about that when I ordered them; though when the bar tender adds the lemon slice and the cherry, I do think it crosses the line.

In a post-Lebowski world, white russians can now safely be considered a “dude drink”.

I think a lot of it can vary by setting too. Wine for example, if you go out to a club or are tailgating drinking wine can be pretty “girly”, over a nice dinner or relaxing in doors it is perfectly gender neutral.

What about Alizé? Rap culture seems to have embraced it, but I still feel a bit silly when I buy it. Damn it is good though, like a perfectly mixed Sunny D screwdriver. Speaking of, how do screwdrivers qualify?

So named, IIRC, because the guys on oil rigs mixed vodka and OJ with a screwdriver. Sounds pretty manly to me.

I don’t care how manly a drink is. If I’m in the mood for it, I’ll order it. It seemed like a lot of us guys had Sloe Gin Fizzes, Amaretto Stone Sours, etc. until we acquired the taste for beer.

Are greyhounds girly?

G&T are gender neutral IMO.

I love margaritas of all kinds, but never if they are blended. I’m not sure that they are girly until they look like a slurpy. Also, salt is a must. I don’t like them too sweet. One must make me dizzy. I have to taste the tequila. Premixed store-bought mixes all suck, but the recipe on the back of Roses Lime juice is ideal. I think I’ve restricted margarita’s enough to be gender neutral.

Sweet drinks give me a hangover if I have more than one. I don’t like sweet.

ETA: I don’t think whiskey sours qualify as manly.

This lady drinks gin, and so do most of my girlfriends. Last year, before my wedding I spent my hen do at a gin distillery, and the guests all got gin minitures as wedding favours.

A male friend of mine once amused me thus:

Jenny: G, I’m going to the bar, do you want a gin and tonic?
G: Certainly not! What do you think I am, some kind of girl?!

I’ll have a vodka and tonic.

Oh, and as the converse of this, a barman I worked with used told me off for drinking whiskey and ginger (the winter alternative to a G & T, for me), because “that’s an old man’s drink.”

I wondered if those would pop up. Just like orangy-peachy soda with 4% alcohol, I like the Bartles and Jaymes ones. Man, that even sounds girly.

My theory is pina coladas and strawberry daiquiris and such are “acceptable” at a radius of about 200 miles max from Nassau, Bahamas. If you’re on vacation in the Keys as a guy you can get a drink with an umbrella. If you’re in Atlanta, I wouldn’t recommend it

Except that Atlanta still has a Trader Vic’s, where you can get big umbrella’d drinks like mai tais that are decidedly potent.

Jenny, glad to hear that you’re out there repping for gin. I knew there had to be some exceptions!
