Anyone know if Acrobat Reader will print only the text in form fields and not the form “image”?
I have a form that I use for work that is a pain in the arse to fill in by hand. I want to be able to just print the text on my existing stock of the form because it’s an adhesive form that has to be stuck to the front of file folders. So I can’t print the “whole thing” on a regular sheet of paper.
I have access to the full version of Acrobat to scan and create the file and plug in the form fields but I need to be able to print it form-fields-only in the free Reader so my co-workers can enjoy it as well.
Or would another program serve me better? Maybe Word?
Any help would be appreciated with…uuummm…appreciation!
I don’t know about Acrobat and I don’t know how important this is for you. If it’s just a few forms then you might be better off filling them by hand. On the other hand, if you are talking something to be done thousands of times, then it is worth investing some time. I suppose there are several ways of doing this but the most obvious I can think of would be to use MS WORD. You can san the document and use it as background in WORD to generate your own form (then delete the background).
Red - I agree with sailor - If you don’t want / can’t scan the .pdf doc, you can just draw a grid in MS word, then just delete the grid lines - they will show up on soft copy, as kind of greyed-out lines, but when you print, they are gone.
But, thinking about it, you probably want the “text” in the soft copy too - yeah, scanning the pdf file and using as background is the easiest…
Actually, you can make the complete form in WORD and make the preprinted part hidden text so it will display but not print and only the answers you type in the boxes will print.
Sailor, I can scan the form and put it in Word as a background. Is this what you mean by “make” the complete form? Or are you talking about structuring the complete form from scratch to the same dimensions as my “original” form?
I actually didn’t know you could have hidden backgrounds and text in Word. If you can, this seems like the easiest thing.
