Did you know that’s exactly what a lot of people thought when he resigned (besides relief too)?
Do you recall the day he resigned?
I heard it on the radio at work, how about you?
Would you believe I saw it on the TV news?
If I did – and I did – then why couldn’t you?
Wasn’t everyone glued to their TV for that, then?
Everyone? What about those of us who were at work?
Would you believe that Nixon’s resignation speech was not carried live on Canadian TV? And as a result, that the nightly news from CBC was the first I heard it?
Do you, like me, dream of a world in which a chicken can cross the road without having its motives questioned? Or, for that matter, the late Richard M. Nixon could do so?
How could a dead man cross the road?
Was he glued to a chicken?
What if that wasn’t glue?
Okay, so what if he was nailed to a chicken?
