Quick Doper Poll: Have You Ever Seen a White Christmas?

Never got one in Spain (although you can, if you go to the mountains) or Miami, which are the only places where I’ve ever spent Christmas. I think. Even the years where I’d been traveling all over the place, I’d get home for Christmas - which by the way is no dang favor, since the whole family is in hyper mode, normally I can put up with them for up to three weeks but one single week of Christmas is enough to give me visions of bloody axes.

In lower Michigan, white Christmases are the rule although green ones are not unheard of. Many years there isn’t enough to shovel by then and generally the real wintery weather doesn’t set in until the new year.

I live on the eastern plains of Colorado – the Colorado Alpine doesn’t live in.

:smack: Forget my last post – stupid fingers!

I live on the eastern plains of Colorado – the Colorado **Alpine ** doesn’t live in. I remember some very white Christmases, but that’s unusual nowadays. When I was a kid (1950s and 1960s) we had several Christmases with snow several feet deep, very cold, typical TV and movie Christmas weather. Of course, we also had just as many warm, dry Christmases, but would get blizzards and heavy snow later in the season (January through March are the heavy snow months here – when it falls at all.) Over the past few years, we’ve had less and less snow as the drought has continued, now into its sixth or seventh winter. We don’t expect things to change any time soon. Nothing hardens the heart more than seeing brilliant Christmas decorations lining Main Street, with dust blowing.

and we all hate you for that.

many a white xmas in indiana, illinois and new jersey over the years. several white thanksgivings and one white halloween i can recall in indiana.

i’m with whoever said they’d be happy to never see snow again. while i don’t hugely object to it on foot, i have an almost pathological fear of driving in it.

Same here. Mid-October to Mid-April you should expect snow. I once took my kids out trick-or-treating in four inches of snow.

Check out tomorrow’s forecast. A white Christmas looks pretty promising this year.

It snowed here in Las Vegas last night! Yep…about a half inch covered my backyard and trees at 7:00AM this morning - took several pictures - looked very nice.

And the best thing? It is now about 11:00AM and 95% of it has melted!

That is the way I like snow:
Look! Pretty snow! (Camera clicks three times).
Look! Snow gone!
