Quick, fill-in MMP

Nava, Mr. Lissar and I started watching Buffy as an act of faith. It went like this:

Joss Whedon did Firefly

Firefly made us into raving fans

Many many Dopers and a friend told us we also had to watch Buffy

Joss Whedon also did Buffy

We started watching it, and even though I frankly thought the first season mostly sucked, the second season became much better. So we continue to watch it, in spite of the teenage hysterics and melodrama, because it is gradually becoming a good show, and because we are informed that many episodes are really really good.

Still not as good as Firefly.
Bread is about to be baked, laundry is done, must run around doing things.

Well, I’ve got Connor’s road bag packed, and I need to get moving and get my bag packed for the road trip to Huntsville. I wish the coffee would kick in so I could get motivated. I also have to clean litterboxes as tomorrow is trash day.

My back is feeling better, and The Sick has yet to stick up its nasty head here. Now that I’ve mentioned it, it will probably come looking for me.

No, that was part of the test. You failed to inform them that smoking, eating and drinking are not allowed on the train or platform.

It was a three point something, and yes, it was on the Hayward. I just thought it was silly for the news to cut in with a special alert about such a small jiggle.

As they said in Independence Day:
Captain Steven Hiller: Is that an earthquake?
Jasmine Dubrow: Not even a four pointer. Go back to sleep.

Should have taken me along - you’d have left with the mouse and $35 in your pocket.

Good mornaftereve! I’m am up again, drinking coffee and getting ready to head out on a beer run. I don’t have The Sick yet, but a lot of people at work do, so it may be a matter of time.

Hi welby! Surly teenagers? Is there any other kind?

BooFae, I am more an ale man myself.

zelie, you set your cocks and drive into a tube? <snerk>

LiLi, I agree that Firefly is a bit better than Buffy. Some days I wish I had the “chain of command” at work.

SCL, have fun and Go Snakes!

HOW’S THE HEAD BOOFAE???

I managed to snag me two stainless steel travel mugs and a stainless steel thermos thingy playin’ dirty Santa. I’m happy. I’m really happy I didn’t get stuck with a scented candle or candle holder. Sorry, just ain’t into that stuff.

Ima go home soon and chill.

She makes sure the cocks are UPright. Sounds like fun. <snerk>

I like ale, too. Who’s drinking ale? I must go back and re-read - I missed the ale posts.

I’m having green Jell-O right now. It’s really good. I’ve been on a Jell-O kick lately. My son wanted some, and then didn’t eat it after I made it. You know how kids are. I’d forgotten how good Jell-O is, and have been enjoying it for a couple weeks.

See, I’m not a huge fan of Jell-O. It tastes weird and sickly sweet to me. That’s just me, though.

Still working on the project I mentioned this morning; however the project has taken a left turn. So, now I’m trying to access another site that’s supposed to have some of the data I need, but the friggin’ site is all jacked up and won’t up what I need. Arrrgh.

Hmm, which reminds me; I need to post a report.

Back later.

There’s always room for Jell-O^[sup]shots[/sup]. The discussion was about nasty Eurolager, I just threw my two cents in.

Does Killian’s Red count as ale or lager? Or is it just a decent beer? I’m not up on what’s beer and ale and lager, but that’s what I like. I hate ‘lite’ beers, especially American ‘lite’ beers. You might as well drink water.
I like those sort of medium-dark beers.

Folks, I am trying to type up minutes from a meeting but I am falling asleep, practically. I’m here alone today and the office next to me had their Christmas party today and invited me. So I had some food and some cheesecake and now I am so sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepy. I have no idea what any of you are talking about, I’m just butting in at this late date. Just to say I’m
sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepy

Yawn.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I was relying on you guys to keep me awake.

:thump:

:head falls forward onto desk:

HOW’S IT GOING, MIKA?

Most of the chores done, Mr. Lissar says downtown is crazy, and I’m taking a loaf of bread up to my upstairs neighbours. I have resolved to take it easy until i leave for work in forty minutes.

Pssssst, Meeks…
WAKE UP! WAKE UP!

There, that should do it…are you awake now?

Mika, WAKE UP!

Did that help? We had our meeting today. It wasn’t as bad as I thought **and ** I refrained from any snark. This deeply disturbed the office manager. She kept checking on me: Is something wrong? Are you sick? :stuck_out_tongue: Oh, and I got another award. Amazon, here I come! And I got a box of chocolates from a senior manager. We get a substantial discount at See’s, so boxes of See’s are almost as ubiquitous as Girl Scout cookies around here. My favorite candy of theirs is Scotch Kisses, caramel wrapped around marshmallow. Mmmm.

Hi, all. Palebunny has kept me posted on your longing for my presence, but alas, I got slammed with a Transcript From Hell this past weekend and have been slogging through it ever since, and simply haven’t had time to read all fartoomany pages of this week’s MMP thus far. I have made it through two pages, however, congratulate me! I did finish that job midday today, so hopefully will have a bit more time to relax now.

So I will go back to reading, and hopefully by some time tomorro will be all caught up and then can speak intelligently. Or as intelligently as I ever speak, which, frankly, ain’t much any more these days…

I am a couple or 3 pages behind in reading however I just wanted you all to know that it was -10 deg F this morning when I came to work.

That is correct …10 degrees below American zero.

I am English. I should not have to deal with this.

ems Well, you are in the middle of nowhere. It tends to get cold there this time of year.

Okay, who has switched phone companies? Do I tell the old company that I am switching, and then go to the new? Or do I establish a new2 account, and let them handle it? GF and I are combining our service onto one company, and I want to keep my same cell phone number.

WAKE UP MIKA!!! :squirts espresso though the CD port:

Back from the errands. Bought some port(Ain’t we refined), and pet snacks. Picked up the present box from the parental units, got some Christmas candy for me, and pet treats for the critters. I got a bank oranment for Mantree, too.

ems, what’s that with the heat index?

Bookcat, Killians is a lager. Lager are brewed cold (50 degrees F), with yeast that ferments at the top of the wort(pre-beer soup). Ales are brewed warm (60-70F) with bottom fermenting yeast.

I found this on Fark. Nava, do you do this?

For SCL: Twas the Hockey Night Before Christmas

Aw, c’mon ems, “stiff upper lip” and all that jazz

Do you mean all those Charles Dickens type pictures showing howling blizzards and eight feet of snow around Christmas are all LIES?!

caster sugar? Is that white sugar pr confectioner’s sugar? The questions never end! Can you get bottled lager in a pub? (I’ve been in 2 whole pubs my whole life).

I am better-sweet potato biscuits are in the oven, ham is done, green beans are cooking–I’m hungry!

I’ve watched the whole series of 6 Feet Under twice before-I am loving it all over again.

I suppose I must try this Firefly thingy–I have heard alot about it. I am not a big Buffy fan (but I never really watched that, either-I don’t watch alot of TV).

I wish we could have a white Christmas–I also wish it was colder out. It feels weird to have 40 degree weather in December.

And thank you for the truffles–nummy! (when I was small, I thought that truffles were truffles dipped in chocolate-which sounds horrible).
