I just started my re-watch of FNL (the TV show). One thing that I am unsure of upon rewatch . . .
I had always assumed Coach Taylor was a newbie to Dillon High at the beginning of the series. I know he had coached Jason Street previously, but I thought it was when Street was much younger, like middle school. So I assumed he coached in Dillon for a while, worked at some other high school as a non-head coach, and then returned in the pilot to be head coach of the Dillon Panthers. I assumed this because it appeared that his family was looking for a house to live in, Julie was unknown to Saracen and Landry so I thought she was new to the school, and he just seemed to be a relative unknown to the townsfolk. Also in episode 2 Tami mentions her getting a job, and she says that now they’re “settled,” also implying they are new to the town.
However, it occurred to me that maybe he was only new to the position of head coach, and previously he had been at Dillon High as a non-head coach. And maybe Julie was unknown just because she was a freshman.
Do they ever explain this in detail?
