Quick, from memory: can you name the colors of the Google letters in order?

Totally mundane and pointless.

There are 6 colored letters in the Google logo. Do you know the colors from memory without looking? No cheating!

Hint:

There are 4 colors total, and 2 of them are repeated.

Hint 2:

The first color (of the big G) is blue.

I’ll be the first to admit it…no, I can’t. It’s not something I’ve ever even given any thought to.

I’m pretty sure the first G is red and the second o is yellow*, but after that, I have nothing.
*I could even be wrong about these.

ETA:

Ah, well, right on the second o, but the G is blue (both are, it seems).

“However, if you are really looking for some action, I will bet you the same thousand that you do not know the color of necktie you are currently wearing. Well?”
“…No bet.”

I know the colors, but not the order.

No, and why on Earth would anyone know?

Joe

Well, many of us have looked at the image thousands of times. It’s interesting how little information from our experiences we retain if it doesn’t register as being important to us. But some people have better visual memory than others, so I’m kind of curious how many people actually notice and remember that kind of detail.

The google logo is in different colors?
(quickly checks)
hmm, you’re right. I never really noticed before.

Yes, but I might have an advantage over others as I have google set as my homepage both at home and work.

It is:

blue, red, yellow, blue, green red

I wonder if the colors have any actual meaning.

It’s my home page too, but I couldn’t tell you what colors are in the logo. I could probably guess one or two on the rough sense I have that they’re common colors and not bright orange or pink.

Nope, no idea.

First one’s blue. Or is it red? Ah, fuck it.

I’m not sure if it’s a matter of retaining so much as it is accessing it. I’m pretty sure if they swapped some colors around, people would notice.

I couldn’t do it. I think the colours are red, blue, green and yellow, but I couldn’t tell you in what order. I think the first is red or blue. I do notice when the logo is replaced by a guitar.

Would be an interesting test. I agree that would be easier, but I’m not sure I’d notice if they swapped a couple around in the middle.

Would they? That would actually be a pretty interesting experiment. I mean sure if they changed the colors to fuschia and turquoise people would notice, but if they subtly changed the order up a little I bet only a very small percentage would catch it.

For what it’s worth, the second “o” is orange when I bring it up. Anyone else?

I knew.

Weird! I didn’t know I knew.

Err, you might want to check your monitor’s color settings. It’s yellow.

I knew it consisted of the three primary colors and green. But I couldn’t remember anything else.

Aww. I got the first three letters right but then confused the 4th and 5th.
