Quick question about the Battlestar Galactica mini-series (spoilers)

I recently watched the BSG mini-series (which I ohmygodLOVED…I feel an obsession coming on), but twice saw something that made me curious.
(space left for mouseover)

I knew a little about the show’s background before watching, including the fact that the humans are polytheistic and the Cylons are monotheistic. Twice in the mini-series, first with Six talking to Baltar towards the very beginning of the show and then with Leoben talking to Adama in the Ragnar Anchorage, the Cylons made casual mention of “God” (singular) while talking with their companions who did not know they were Cylons, and neither Baltar nor Adama raised eyebrows at this. (But I did.) I’m assuming that because at the time this occurred neither knew that Cylons could look human, they also didn’t know that the Cylon religion was different from the humans’, and therefore they didn’t realize this was a tip-off. (But still. If someone I knew and had assumed to be either atheist, Jewish, or Christian – common in my social circle – started casually and seriously referring to “the gods,” I would become curious about their unusual religious beliefs.)

So all this is to say, spoil me. In the show, does anyone’s use of “God” (singular) ever serve to out them as a Cylon?

Not that I’m aware of.

They’ve recently established that the humans have some monotheistic religions, though they are in the minority. So I would imagine that a pre-invasion human uttering something about “god” instead of “gods” might get a raised eyebrow, maybe, but not necessarily brand themselves as something other than human.

IIRC, when Caprica (the Six whom Baltar shags) mentions God singular, Baltar does make some off-handed smirky comment about her religious beliefs, which she chides him for not taking seriously. In the miniseries, Baltar is an athiest, disdaining all religious beliefs.

Adama of course has the ultimate poker face, and never (well, rarely) betrays any emotion. It’s likely that he registered Leobon’s comment about God singular, but kept it to himself until he was absolutely sure who/what he was dealing with.

Yes, this was my first thought, too.

gallows fodder, if you liked the mini series and watch just a couple episodes of season 1, I GUARANTEE you it will become an obsession!! Enjoy!!

I thought I recalled it not being fully fleshed out in the miniseries and hearing some "Goddamnit"s and "Ohmygod"s instead of “Godsdamnit” and “Ohmygods” interjections from people we essentially know to be humans. Maybe I’m crazy?

Thanks for the responses, y’all! I needed to know before I became fixated on listening for slip-ups

HelloKitty, it took an indescribable amount of willpower to keep from dropping $60 for the Season 1 boxset today…although I don’t know if I can wait for Netflix to deliver the next disc by Monday…bites nails
