Quick! Tell me what to cook for dinner!

In about one hour, I’ll be driving to the grocery store for food, and then to my sister’s to cook whatever I buy. Both of us feel like making something new. She already has some ground beef and chicken, so it would be nice if we could use some ingredients we already have since I only have eight dollars I can spend for tonight’s dinner. Also, both of us like to eat healthy, so nothing that ain’t wholesome. Personally, I don’t like seafood, so scratch that out too.

Any ideas Dopers?

How about you buy some rice, a few veggies, bone the chicken, get some ginger root, garlic, and maybe some mushrooms, and cook up a stir fry?

Cook the beef with garlic, onions, cumin and chilli.
Wrap in flour tortillas fro burritos. Add avacado, crushed beans (pintos or carbazo) and bell peppers. If your dietary laws allow, ;j and cheese and sour cream.

Cabbage rolls.

Blend the beef with breadcrumbs, egg a little carrot or sweet potato, onion, garlic and such.

Wrap in cabbage, cook covered in tomato sauce to which brown sugar and lemon juice have been added.
I find it also works well with mustard greens instead of cabbage.

Thanks for the suggestions guys  .

Hrrrm. My sister eats that all the time. It would make a nice meal for me, but for her it would be the same ol’ thing. Also, I’m looking to make an educational experience out of this.

Those sounds more like appetizers than a main dish. And wouldn’t cabbage be hard to roll? It’s a pretty hard leafed vegetable.

Ooooohh. This sounds nice. I just called my sister up and she gave it the thumbs up as well. I never cooked Chilli before. Do you have any recipes for dynamite chilli? Neither of us like our food too spicy, let’s keep this tame.

The easiest way to do chili is to grab a packet of Two-Alarm Chili mix. It’s got everything you need spice-wise, and you just need to add an 8-oz can of tomato sauce and whatever other yummies you want. Personally, I always add a can of diced tomatoes, a can of beans (pinto or kidney) rinsed & drained. I also saute some extra onions and garlic along with the beef.

I’ll keep those suggestions in mind. We’re thinking of making chicken chilli rather than the tradional beef chilli.

Thanks for the help everyone. Time to get cookin’.

POT ROAST!

Okay, I guess I’ll read the OP now. It’s just that he seemed in such a hurry to be told…
