Dolly Parton’s Jolene, which got stuck there after watching Whip It and seeing this scene (terrible, horrible video shakiness, but it’s the only one I found)
At this very moment I don’t have a true earworm working, but for several days recently I was captivated by Ordinarius - Disseram que voltei americanizada and thus the entire set of the group’s YouTube offerings.
I even posted about it elsewhere.
I was also impressed enough by Bob Dylan : “The Night We Called It a Day” - David Letterman that I revisited versions by Diana Krall and Frank Sinatra. The damn song is as old as I am!
“Into the Mystic” by Van Morrison.
At least it’s a song I like.
Kiss From a Rose, from the revived mondegreen thread in Cafe Society!
I’m actually enjoying a brief, earworm-free hiatus. Knowing me though, one’ll pop up any time now.
We watched “Three Coins in the Fountain” the weekend before last, so that song was strong in my mind until just a few days ago. And then “My Girl” somehow wormed its way in as “Three Coins” was letting up. And then “Bali Hai” from “South Pacific” for some reason, edged in too.
Yeah, I generally get the old stuff like that. You kids with your newfangled earworms better stay off my lawn!
Oddly enough, my latest earworm is an actual worm (but not an actual doctor): They Might Be Giants’ “Dr. Worm.”
Thanks to someone who posted it on here, I’m stuck with this earworm- and I have to look up the translation just to understand it.
Spin Doctors - Little Miss Can’t be Wrong
Heard it on the radio yesterday and it just popped back into my head.
“The Official Bransle,” aka “Ding Dong, Merrily on High.”
Now it’s “Say Goodbye to Hollywood”.
Coldplay’s Fix You, specifically the choral arrangement we’re performing this weekend. I just have the nanananas bit, though. Ugh.
Ooo…I had that one going through my head for weeks at a time at various times in my life. Beautiful tune.
Well, with Hawks on their way to the Stanley Cup Finals, I haven’t been able to get Chelsea Dagger by the Fratellis out of my head. I can’t imagine just how goddamned annoying it must be to fans of other teams when that song starts playing at the United Center after a Blackhawks goal, but whoever picked out that song is a genius.
I definitely had something when I opened the thread but I read the other posts and now it’s gone. In a few minutes I’ll leave the office and it will be Bésame Mucho because I’ll pass through a door that has the work besame on it for some reason.
“This Magic Moment” by The Drifters.
I have no idea why.
This old man, he played one, he played knick-knack on my thumb, with a knick-knack paddy whack, give the dog a bone. This old man came rolling home.
I have no idea how it got there, but I’ve got a four and six year old running around the house, so I can sort of imagine.
At this instant, my daughter is preparing for an audition with Disney Cruise ships which takes place tomorrow. So my current earworm is Waiting For My Dearie from Brigadoon (debuted by her great aunt in March of 1947).
“Far From Any Road,” better known as the theme song used for True Detective.
Dunno why.
The theme song from “WKRP in Cincinnati”. No idea why. Sorry about that everyone who now has it in their head too.
Sparks Nevada, Marshall on Mars
And I’m sure that I’ll be riding in the name of of truth and justice for as long as I can count the shooting stars, I’m from earth, but I right the outlaw wrongs on Mars
Several of these songs I don’t know. Any other thread I’d hunt them down. But not this one.
