The Acid Queen from Tommy.
This has been on my mind a lot today - Sara Bareilles, “The Light”: The Light - YouTube
Beer Buzzin’ by a capella band Home Free
“All Are Welcome”, a hymn by Marty Haugen which we sang in church last week.
If I told you that I don’t give a holy shit what the dormouse said, would that answer your question? And god, what a stupid song for a cruise ship vacation commercial. They’re supposed to be relaxing and fun, not anxiety inducing and horrifying.
That’s The Way God Planned It - Billy Preston - 1973 (well, you did ask…)
There was a GQ question a few days back about Mr Peanut. Being GQ, I thought about, but eventually decided against, posting the Ian Dury song. Just the thought set me off - but not a bad earworm to have. Here it is. NSFW - may offend the timid.
BTW - wasn’t there a thread about best opening lines? I can’t remember if this was in it.

Just finished the Beach Boys folder on my car stereo. Do I get Little Surfer Girl, Don’t Worry Baby, California Girls, … ? No …
Wendy. Ugh.
Now if was Windy by The Association, I could live with it.
The Pretenders-Talk of the Town.
Groucho Marx singing “Lydia The Tattooed Lady.”
Shawn Phillips’ Parisien Plight II. It replaced one that was really persistent, and it’s such a relief to be able to say that I don’t remember what it was. It was bad though.
Stumblin’ In, from 1978.
A snippet from the lyrics:
Our love is alive, and so we begin
Foolishly laying our hearts on the table
** Stumblin’ in
-
Our love is a flame, burning within
Now and then firelight will catch us
** Stumblin’ in* -
Wherever you go, whatever you do
You know these reckless thoughts of mine are following you
I’ve fallen for you, whatever you do
'Cause, baby, you’ve shown me so many things that I never knew
Whatever it takes, baby, I’ll do it for you…
I think I’ve told this story before: years ago my mom, knowing my love of old cartoons, gave me a dvd of what were mostly crappy cartoons. I watched a couple of Little Lulu cartoons and got the theme song firmly stuck in my head. It was horrible- I’d awaken to it and have it follow me all day long. I thought I’d go mad, it was that bad.
Tendernessby Paul Simon.
“Low Life” by Sting. I know it was originally recorded by The Police, but the version I have stuck in my head is the one from Sting’s concert album Bring on the Night.
A song from Swan Lake which is my ringtone but I cannot remember the song’s name.
Right now (and no complaints btw) I’ve got “One more thing” by L7 (L7 - One More Thing (Bricks Are Heavy) - YouTube). One of my favourite stations is Big R Radio Grunge FM. They have a small but really good selection and that’s one song they play.
