Same here. Skinny absolutely is not a deal breaker for me, as such. But all else being equal, I would go for a woman who, ideally, has maybe ten to twenty “extra” pounds.
I’m curious what constitutes “competition”. Is it that other women are interested in him, or that he’s interested in other women, or a combination? If you were already established in a relationship, and other women started drooling over your partner (while he remained devoted to you), would that be a turn-off?
Intelligence, kindness, and humor draws me in all kinds of packages. But physically, the scrawny and wiry type turns my head; Howard of Big Bang Theory being a perfect example. A big beaky nose would be just a bonus.

I also forgot to say that I’m a woman attracted to men. Or possibly also to androgynous people.
Not sure if it’s an attraction, but ‘different’ eyes.
I’ve a cousin that has one lazy eye, it’s always pointing in a slightly different direction, it’s freaky, and very cool. A SIL that has different color eyes. it’s nearly impossible for me to look away.

I have different color eyes. Ms. P finds them interesting, but I don’t know if she’d find them unusually attractive if they weren’t in my head.
I don’t know that it’s all that quirky or odd, but I (man) definitely have a strong attraction to women with red hair, green eyes, and freckles. I think it must be indicative of a past life as a Celt somewhere along the line.
Man attracted to women. Smiles and expressive eyes. As a Hollywood example, Aubrey Plaza does nothing for me in her usual dour mopey slack personas she is known for. But when you can find her in full face and eyes smile, she is stunning.

Years ago, it was amusing to see the kind of man that a friend once tried to set me up with. He was a big bearlike bearded man with a country-rustic sort of personality. Think “Al” from Home Improvement. I was polite, but he was exactly the opposite of what attracted me.

The women I mentioned are attractive regardless of their eyes. I just have a hard time looking away.
One had a very interesting career promoting AI. That was a few years ago. As it is national Star Trek day, I found it ‘fascinating’.

Altho one time I watched a video of a woman crushing a melon between her thighs and I was kind of obsessed. I am pretty sure it’s because I wanted to BE that woman. I have fantastic thighs.
I do notice nice thighs in men. I am more partial to baggy straight-cut pants but when a guy is in some tight pants and his thighs are bursting out then I get a little shimmery. Extra bonus points if there’s a butt to match.
Men with facial hair (beards) are very unappealing to me.
