Does anyone know where the following saying originated? (Forgive the paraphrasing, I don’t know the exact quote - that’s why I’m here ):
“There’s a whole lot they didn’t tell me when I signed on with this outfit!”
Best I can tell from some google-fu, it’s a caption on a piece by cowboy artist William Hampton. I don’t know if he got it from somewhere else.

Quote:
“I once had a copy of one of Bill Hampton’s pictures. I wish I could find another. The caption read " There were a helluva lot of things they didn’t tell me when I hired on with this outfit”. I have used that phrase many times in different situations."
I thought it was from a movie. But what I was thinking of was from “Aliens”:
Hudson: How do I get out of this chickenshit outfit?
