quotations about friendship or motherhood

I am going to paint some tiles for my best friend. She collects tiles, most of which have something written on them, as well as art. For example, she sent me one that has a flying woman on it that says, “Put on your favorite dream and fly.”

I would like to come up with a short quotation about motherhood (which has been a bone of contention between us, as she loves and had kids and I don’t) and one about friendship, but I haven’t come up with anything yet. Any ideas? Anyone have a short quotation they love? Or anyone creative enough to come up with something? We are long-distance friends, by the way, and have been friends since childhood, so those might be good themes.

Thanks in advance!

My dad told me something about parenthood once:

“A father (or a mother) has two jobs. To give their child roots, and then to give them wings.”

I like that.

For long distance, long lasting friendships, you might try something like, “Distance is meaningless between friends.”
