I apparently missed the announcement that they were being implemented, and so when they started happening I couldn’t figure out what the hell was going on. Why is all this crap that I didn’t quote showing up in my message-composition text box? And then it stopped almost as quickly as it started, and I shrugged the whole thing off as a board hiccup.
Anyway, I think that to understand the reason behind the OP’s complaint, you need to have been following our massive World of Warcraft threads in The Game Room. SFG tends to post to the thread once per day, and in her daily post she seems to to quote almost every single other post made since her previous post, which is usually a whole crapload of posts, and then respond to each one individually, all in one giant, wall-of-text post. Reading her posts doesn’t bother me at all, but it can be a nightmare when she says something I want to reply to and I have no choice but to then quote her entire wall of text and spend a goodly amount of time combing through it trying to relocate that one line and then trim away everything else before and after it. Actually, that’s where the aforementioned nested quoting went from puzzling to “I’m in Hell!” because it was next to impossible to get the cursor in the right place before hitting “Delete” so that I didn’t end up with a bunch of broken quote tags and have to start all over again.

No idea, and I’m disappointed in Guns for pursuing it. rachel’s posting style is nothing like Morella’s, and if one’s going to make the case from there that of course a professional troll would deliberately change up posting style, then there’s no use throwing accusations around at random people just because they’re obstreperous.
I’m assuming that it isn’t meant in the context of a “garage” where one goes for repairs and upkeep? How many women might welcome such a thing, if they could find a way to make the appointment without alarming their SO’s delicate sensibilities. Some men, I am told, are insecure about such matters. Or so I’ve heard.

Sorry, SFG, I’ll grant that rachellelogram is not making the best first impression I’ve ever seen, and I’ll grant that something about her has rubbed you entirely the wrong way, but the accusation that she’s a returning sock for the late unlamented Morella strikes me as really out of left field. And I find that your insistence on pursuing the subject so aggressively does not reflect well on you.
I’ll allow as to how I possibly have no frame of reference for correctly judging the provenance of anyone who reads and posts in a WoW thread, and my judgement could be adversely affected by this. But, in my estimation, rachelellogram, unlike Morella (and Carol Stream before her) actually participates, and does not show up just to snark and snipe. If she has it in her to hold and post an opinion that I disagree with (even as a newbie), well, so what? So have some other posters whom I respect as Dopers and as thinkers (you among them).

Not by the normal definition, nor the one of this forum (i.e. the Pit). She doesn’t seem to be wanting to get a rise out of people, but just likes to express brash opinions and vent a lot, and rarely cares about being perceived as a jerk in this forum.
She’s essentially just the person who will call you on your shit (for lack of a better word), and will respond to any perceived attack with extreme gusto–as you have already seen in this thread. She enjoys fighting, but does not do so just to piss you off.
