Quotes need for multiple links?

I was having problems creating a post with multiple links in it, so I made a test post here.

My understanding was that you didn’t need to put quotes around the URL inside the [url**] code, and me being a lazy SOB, I usually don’t.

But from the results of the test posts, it looks like that if you have multiple links, quotes are required. It appears that without quotes, everything between the first [url**] and last [/url**] is treated as part of the URL.

Does this sound right?

I have found that to always have been the case in vB.

Thank god you asked this! I thought I was just a big stupid poophead when my posts didn’t work!

If you click on the link for the text “vB code is On” which is on every page (top of “post reply” page, bottom everywhere else), the documentation says:

There is no example similar to this without the quote marks. That says to me that they want us to use the quote marks all the time. If it works without them, that’s interesting but unintended and really a bug. Veteran posters will remember that UBB, the previous software used by the SDMB, didn’t use the quotes but wouldn’t process complicated URLs correctly.
