Mooom, if your VCR is still operable, you may consider donating it to Goodwill or some other thrift shop. I know at my local GW, they sell just about as quickly as they come in.
Happy birthday, Sprog! Twelve! He was just a little kid when I joined the board. :sniff:
It’s Firday! once I get the bulletin board changed, I may angle to get out of here early.
I’m with you on that one. The step-daughter is making one of her rare solo forays out of the house for a few hours this evening to go to movie night at the library. Not sure what me and her mom are going to do to celebrate.
Busy morning and now it’s afternoon and I still haven’t eaten a thing.
Guess I may as well go for an early dinner.
The HFH were gone but he just got back and he was all dressed up so maybe he went for an interview and got a job. The downside being if he did get a job it is close to here and that is not a good thing. Florida or California or Siberia are good places for him to find a job.
Oh and my mother just pulled into the driveway.
Well the gangs all here.
I’m rotissing a chickie for supper, to be served with smashed N.O.T.s and some sort of vegetable matter, and probably the last of the melon.
It’s been a dreary, rainy day and not much has been accomplished. **FCD **has decided to see if he can sell the aquarium and all. There are things he wants to do to his bike so he’s got an ad on Craigslist and the local classifieds site. We shall see…
FCM - I had an aquarium thought, although all my adventures were fresh water. What about temperature fluctuations? That could cause some of your issues. It’s a big tank, but Summer temps can be a b*tch to correct for.
I’ve got a hankering for an aquarium now. Shall go peruse Craig’s list.
**sunny **- we know it wasn’t temp - it’s computer controlled and it’s displayed on a screen at the end of the tank. We monitor it regularly. Too bad you’re on the far side of the country - we could make you a great deal on our setup!
And, alas, the hippo tang has died. The remaining little fish are doing fine so apparently whatever it was affected the tangs only.
Chickie is almost done. Sides are done (peas will be the veggie) Supper shall be soon.
You might also consider donating to a thrift store. Seriously, people buy them.
Got my student ID card (which doubles as a bus pass for the next five months!) and parking permit for campus. Got book list obtained to pass to person at work who will handle obtaining said books (employer’s paying tuition and books). Still haven’t managed the trick of having transcript from prior college arrive at current one (request re-faxed today), for which I blame the postal service.
Also do not currently have working AC in car. Ugh.
F apparently achieved some fairly epic level of screwup today, although I do not yet have much info (I do have my sources in his current department, though). Next to my locker, there is an office currently shared by several levels of permanent staff in F’s current department. En route to my locker while leaving today, I saw his grandboss, A, waving his arms and apparently yelling at someone (couldn’t hear anything being said). Body language conveyed extreme displeasure. When the door opened and A emerged, F was in his wake, looking majorly sullen. Takes a lot to upset A at all, let alone to that extent, so when I can find out what F did, I’m sure it’ll be quite a story.
Had actual irk today faints. Wasn’t too bad either, despite me showing up in a light jacket knowing I’d be outside, when it was chucking it down.
Got none tomorrow though, 'cos I’m off oop North for a night to [del]play with KITTEHS![/del] have a trustee meeting.
Wound up having to turn down the job call back from yesterday, I forgot I had the allergy (or, according to autocorrect, allegory) testing next week, which means 3 hospital appointments, moanday, wednesday and friday, taking half the day each- that just wouldn’t work for the first week of a four week job. Besides which, security in a police station, 6 ayy emm shifts…? Hmmm.
Why is it that half the people in this house know how to close a door properly and the other half cannot close a door without making noise?
If my father were still alive he’d whip their asses into shape re door closings. I can remember him showing me the proper way to close a door and standing there making me open and close the door over and over until I could do it with no more noise than a slight click.
You turn the knob, close the door, release the knob and give it a slight push to make sure it’s latched. How friggin hard is that?
But nooooo around here all day long it’s bang, bang, BANG!
So realtor is asking me what I want to do and I said my heart is with one house and my head is with the other and I guess one should use their head when buying a house not their heart. So I want to go see another one and then decide.
Sari - go with your heart! Every little thing you can’t stand about the house your head is picking will only magnify. Every day. It’s like marrying the wrong person (I think). Water torture. Wrong paint. Wrong floor plan. Drip. Drip. Drip. DRIP. DRIP. FLOOD!!!
If you really think you can fix what’s wrong, that’s one thing. But be honest with yourself. IME it’s a lot easier to deal with a slightly longer commute than a house you have to completely re-do. At least for me and my life now. I’m re-doing the SOB, but I frequently think about a mobile home. Or an RV. Or another state.
And if you just can’t make either choice, keep looking. There will be something. But don’t choose something you already don’t like. It really doesn’t get better.

Thanks, i needed that. I had to fix one of the ceiling tiles because a leak. Said ceiling is 20+ feet above the floor. And i hate heights. And everybody else is way too short, or won’t cowboy and and do it like me. : chugs beer :
