Radio Days: The MMP

We have it. Works just fine except for the thunderboomers.

MOOOOOOM I don’t have DTV but my next door neighbor does and she really likes it. Like BBBobbio said though, it sometimes goes out durin’ tstorms but not for long accordin’ to her.

Ok, time to start dindin. Sallit is made. OYKW will man the grill when it’s time for that. Ima go fry up some okra and steam corn on the cob. YUM!

Do you have it to multiple TVs? Do you have to have boxes for each one?

swampy, if you come up to Nashville some weekend, I’ll take you for catfish or barbecue, beer (even if we have to sneak it) and bluegrass. You can even bring OYKW with ya.

spidey, we’ll be doing the hay rolling in a couple of weeks at the county fair.

Mooom I cut.cable last fall after they raised rates 300% in five years and cut a bunch of channels. I upped the data on my devices and use free wi-fi whenever possible for internet and get ~15 over the air channels with a 30 indoor antenna for a total savings of about 125 a month. Depending on what you like to watch, that may work for you. One of my neighbors has DishTV and likes it.

When I got home last night, I kicked my shoes off and headed to the kitchen to take meds beforeputting on the jammies and slippers. I felt something sharp under my left foot, but only for one step. I figured it was a dried piece of something tha would be swept up today. Nope.

When I went to the sink for a glass of water, I left a trail. And there was a puddle of blood at the table where I had sat.
One piece of glass from I don’t know where had cut a 1/2 place on the sole of my foot. As I’m diabetic, I will be making an appointment with the PCP toute suite. I like my feet.

I had Dish Network and there is a box for each TV.
Leaves and rain, particularly together, will stop it.
I don’t remember the location of the satellites, but it is about due South. I have no idea what the elevation is in Maryland.
There is a fee to rent the receiver, and a fee to rent the DVR as well as the monthly fee.
You will save money if you buy the receivers instead of rent them. If you buy them second hand, you should check with DN to see if anyone owes subscription money on those boxes.

Mooooom. if you have ComCast, dump 'em. Is there FiOS in your region? AFAIK, FiOS, being all fiber optic, and therefore underground, is not as susceptible to the kind of outages satellite folk experience. Plus, as a new customer, they’ll give you a good deal on your first year, maybe first two years.
If you have Time Warner, same advice.
If you have Charter, I question the wisdom of those who granted the franchise in the first place.

Our local provider is MetroCast, and I don’t think there’s FIOS in my neighborhood. The other alternative is Verizon DSL which is waaaaaaaaaaaaay slower for internet. So it’s looking like we’ll stay with Metrocast for the 'net, maybe satellite for TV, and dump our land line and go all wireless for phone. I’ll get rid of my cell number and change it to our home number.

Those of you with satellite TV - how often do you deal with the effects of bad weather? Do you have to shovel snow out of the dish in the winter?

Dindin was teh nummiest! OYKW did a fantastic job on the steaks and the fresh corn, okra, 'maters and watermelon just made it all the better. We’s stuffded. Tomorrow I get a belated birthday N.O.L. at the local good seafood place. Life is good!

So I dropped my inflatable Stanley Cup off with a friend who’s going to the hockey Convention this year. I stopped at the beer store for a couple of pints. Then I came home and napped. Now I gotta decide on dinner.

Red, ouch! Hope the foot heals.

I said to hell with TV when I moved to to the Stately Manor. What shows I watch are either online or on DVD.

I finally pried another story out of my head. The impending novel comes ever closer.

Yes, 6" of snow even took out C-Band.
The dishes for DN and whoever the other guys are are as small as possible to not look ugly. C-Band was also called BUD,“Big Ugly Dish”. DN has a “Hawaiian dish”, which is larger as required for Hawaii. I could not find one. A larger dish I had that was elliptical and could have several antennas, or LNBs (Low Noise Block converter-micro wave to RF) on it had some Dish Network LNBs, but I could never get the receiver to see them. There tech guy refused to try. “It ain’t ours” despite having the DN logo on the LNBs.

RT is unexpectedly home. Yay! He’s currently doing his best Whitney Houston singing impersonation while we watch The Bodyguard.

Dinner is mesquite chicken with sangria rice.

Yay for unexpected RT, Sticky!

Spaz, I’ll have to start reading that. Chapter 1 was interesting.

Home from the road trip.

The new house was a bummer, it looked so cute from the outside and the pics were nice. A new sink and counter top does not equal a ‘remodeled’ kitchen. The bathroom was nice, it was the only room that was nice. It was another one of those houses that have the bathroom on the maim floor and the bedrooms on the second floor. Not even a powder room upstairs. It was just a weird house with a weird layout.
Although not as bad as my ex-inlaws house. Their bathroom was in the cellar, so you had to go down two flights of stairs to pee.

So I put in an offer on the duplex. I told the realtor I will not go higher.

So this is the 8th offer I’ve put in on a house.

It’s a bit scattershot right now. It’s coming out in extremely disconnected bits and pieces. One fine day I’ll actually get an outline going and systematize the way things work in that world.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 74 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 89 and maybe rain. We shall see.

Sari appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed re the condo offer.

StickyBuns Yay for RT bein’ home! However, the Whitney Houston impression sounds like it could be quite disturbin’. Or entertainin’. Could go either way.

I’m lookin’ forward to my belated bday N.O.L. at the local good seafood place. YUM!

Ok, that’s all I got. I need more caffiene and need to consider what to feed rumbly tummy for brekkie. I don’t want big cause I want to pig out at the local good seafood place. Purtification for deheathenization and N .O.L. shall also commence at some point. I’ll impress one and all by wearin’ one of my new pair of pants.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Yesterday was crazy-busy. The sprog is now in Texas with his grandparents, having spent a nice birthday with his parents. (Guardians of the Galaxy was awesome and Bears was interesting and well-done. Momma Bear seemed a bit dim, though, but that’s understandable.)

I am very proud of the sprog, by the way. This was the first time he’s flown alone unescorted. He made it to his connecting flight with no problems and was thoroughly prepared with lots to keep himself entertained on a very long flight. With any luck, he’ll behave himself over the two weeks he’ll be gone.

After that flurry of activity, I spent the rest of the day with some friends from my 12-Step program at the state convention for another program. I heard an interesting, inspiring speaker, spent time in a rewarding workshop, dindin with two other friends, and walked out on the evening’s speaker, who I thought was a preachy, sanctimonious asshole. Ah, well. Still time well spent.

And I go back to irk in an office tomorrow. I’ve also gotten word that at least one other agency has been doing reference checks, so I’m hoping I won’t be in the temp pool for very long.

I forgot to turn off my 'puter last night! **FCD **got up with Higgs and I just got up myself a few minutes ago - guess I was tahred. I was dreaming that I ran into Johnny Depp on a cruise ship and we were making a bet about which of us is older (I know I am) and the loser was going to have to sing. No, I wasn’t drinking last night…

We did some more figuring - if we drop a tier of channels where we only watch 2 or 3 of them and if we drop the land line and go exclusively with cells, we can save about $50/month and we don’t have to bother with satellite. I talked to my mom - she has DirecTV - and she’s paying a crazy high amount for a fairly low tier of channels - and she’s been with them for 19 years!! I don’t want to deal with that kind of crap in a few years, and I don’t want to have to get boxes for 3 TVs, especially since there’s no way to put a box with one of the sets - it’s mounted high on the wall. So we’re probably going with the fewer-channels-no-landline-lots-of-Netflix option. Which means we have to do something about our cell phones. Yep, retirement is exciting.

No idea what today’s plans are. I’m still not awake.

Happy Sunday!!

Smokey gave me two purry cuddle sessions last night. Problem is, I was sound asleep when she wanted the second one. sigh

Up and caffeinated. Laundry day today.

Good luck on the duplex, sari!
