Rainy Day Activities

I am planning an afternoon outing, and most of the things I usually like doing depend on nice weather. Rain being predicted for most the day, I am trying to think of fun and unique indoor activities my friend would enjoy.

Seeing as how I don’t want him thinking I am only after his sexy body… I decided the naked twister game and the strip backgammon will have to wait til another time. I seem to be coming up blank tho on indoor activities that get you out of the house. He is new to the area and wants to see what my town has to offer.

A movie seems so boring, and neither of us are into sports… so that doesn’t leave much.
Any suggestion fellow dopers? Be creative!

I really try to be good but it just isn’t in my nature!

How about going to the theatre? Or maybe there’s an interesting exhibit showing at the museum.

In case that doesn’t work bring along the naked twister.

I’ve always enjoyed the Tech Museum in your town. The exhibits are interesting and the IMAX theatre is cool.

Museum is good. the last ril I took to the museum really enjoyed it, and it gives you a good way to show off how smart you are

Other good things are go shopping for a specific item… like a ift for someone… just going shopping with no intent is no fun.

Got o a skating rink, indoors.

go to a bowling alley etc… there is a whole entertainment industry out there… most of it it is costly but hey, that’s what love is all aboot, eh?

Dear PurpleCrackhead, Hey, you could respond again to my post, “Does SIZE really matter” or you could get some crack. (didn’t take my ritilin yet!)

Enthusiastic agreement for the museum idea. I adore museums, and it’s a nice way to get to know someone (in the non-Biblical sense.) It’s interesting; some people are methodical and scholarly about, I tend to be a happy wanderer myself…but it’s fun to see what catches someones interest.

It can be fun to roam around antique stores too, if nothing else just to goggle at funky stuff from the past. If you’re in a properly silly mood, perhaps you could buy your guy a tender gift like Batman and Robin salt and pepper shakers or somesuch.

Okay, that’s weird but it can be fun. I spent one glorious rainy day with a guy prowling around funky head shops and antique stores. I bought him a Victorian “hair mourning” watch fob (hair from the deceased braided into flowers and set under crystal). It was totally grotesque, the guy promptly named it “Harry” and when I ran into him 15 years later he still had it on his keychain.

On second thought, a good movie may not be a bad idea.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I will run them all by him and see what catches his fancy. Right now it is a toss up between catching bits of the flea market (if the sun decides to makes its presence known) while waiting for The Green Mile to show… or handing out ritalin at the local mall to pre-pubescent males who are obsessed with their penis size. I do believe a millemeter ruler is in order to figure out the dosage.
