Rand Rover: Ass

Sorry, just trying to provide a little conic relief.

That can be frustrating.

::Peeks in::

Wow, you’re still here throwing haymakers in the dark?

Dumbass.

::leaves::

If you continue to ignore the above simple question I will be able to dismiss you in my mind as a troll and give the approriate weight to any of your further responses in any thread.

Hell, he’s been ignoring that simple question ever since I asked it more than 260 posts ago:

Thought I’d give him one more shot.

In other news, I checked Atlas Shrugged at play.com yesterday and saw that it was over a thousand pages.

More than a thousand pages of a book that I am going to get irritated by and most here say is fucking awful, but will just read so I can have an informed opinion in discussion about Rand?

Fuck that for a carry on.

I responded to this back on page 489 or so. I don’t think that other people’s impression of me is the same as whether I am unemployed for a long time or not.

That does not even come close to answering the question.
If a large number of people get the impression that you are an asshole from your posts, isn’t it logical to come to the conclusion that it is your fault?
If you don’t mean to look like an asshole maybe its time to modify your writing style. If you mean to act like an asshole and it amuses you then you are a troll your opinions will be ignored. Why bother posting at that point?

What does this mean, really?

If I pass you on the street and you think my shirt is ugly, is that “my fault”?

I’ve been talking about people taking responsibility for their lives instead of blaming others. This means that if someone doesn’t like something about theirt life then they should work to change it and not sit around and complain about it and wait for someone else to change it for them. What does what I’ve been saying have to do with the concept of fault you are discussing now?

Jesus Christ, this pile-on thread is older than Miley Cyrus. Concluded: Rand Rover is an ass. (Bangs gavel)

So telling a person their important medical papers are being used as toilet paper is no different then an ugly shirt?

What kind of changes do you expect him to make? Magically grow a new pancreas?

Then you need to quit complaining about the fact that so many people think you’re an ass. You’ve been sitting around this thread whining that other people are “misrepresenting your posts” because they don’t like your politics or they’re jealous of your success or something. And boo-hoo-hoo, there’s nothing you can do about it, any more than you can prevent a random passerby from thinking your shirt is ugly.

But in fact, people think you’re an ass because you say things that make you sound like an ass. That’s your life, your choice, your behavior. Take responsibility for it.

If you’re not going to work to change your assishness, then at the very least you need to quit blaming “other people’s impression” of you as though it’s a purely random accident over which you have no control. The primary reason that so many other people have the impression that you’re an ass is because you act like an ass.

Then what’s the primary reason that I have the impression that you are an idiot who lacks the ability to understand valid distinctions?

Wandering over from newcrasher’s thread - I’m thoroughly atheist, but Rand Rover is not on my side. What a fucking waste of atoms.

I haven’t read the rest of this, and I’ve never even recalled seeming him around outside of these recent threads, but if his behavior in the newscrasher thread is indicative of his regular behavior, then this pitting is justified. Using a completely understandable moment of distress in someone’s life as a platform to espouse biased, uninformed, and unsolicited advice about how he should revise his beliefs is simply inhuman. He mentioned how he was having difficulty with forgiving the thief as he knows he should because of his faith, and it’s perfectly relevant.

Had he come in to express comfort or be angry along with him or provide advice about how to proceed, great. Had it sparked a desire to debate God’s plan and why he wasn’t okay with it, great, it’s probably a bit more refreshing than all the rehashed religious debates on this board. But your reaction was nothing short of kicking a man when he’s down, and it was detestable.

Can’t a thread like that, where the belief or existence of God is not the topic of the thread be allowed to go without people coming in and expressing why they personally think belief in God is stupid? It’s not accomplishing anything except making those who do it look like jerks.

Rand Rover, Rand Rover, send OGRE* right over!*”

Just fightin’ ignorance, folks.

Newcrasher’s thread presented a good teaching moment because the issue of whether he really believes what he says he believes was right in his face. Also, he wouldn’t have mentioned jesus at all if he weren’t struggling with his christianity, so that shows again that he was ripe for a wake-up call. Maybe the wound of his hurt feelings will allow some of the antiseptic of rationality to seep in.

You are in no position to share the antiseptic yet. You’ve got an infected wound of your own to deal with.

It becomes clear why you are a tax attorney rather than a teacher.
