The Butlerette, who is also two, watches the following:
Calliou on PBS - The most annoying kid ever to grace the airwaves. Should be shot. She loves it of course. He does nothing but complain. I call it “Whine-iou,” and the wife gives me an evil stare… it’s rarely on when I’m home. I don’t know who Robby is, but he’s apparently an evil one on the show, as the Butlerette keeps telling him “NO” and to share. (When the show isn’t on)
Backyardigans - Even I’ll sit and watch a show with her, this is great! **RiverRunner **, “Racing day” is the same song that comes to my mind whenever I think of the show.
Curious George - Another good show, though it took her a while to get “into it.” Now it’s one of her favorites. That Bill seems to be around too damn much, I think he’s got a thing for the ‘city kid’ aka George.
Clifford the Big Red Dog - Not horrible, and is a perpetual favorite of the Butlerette.
Miss Spider’s Sunny Patch - aka “The Buggies” (her title for it). She’s called “Miss Spider” as she’s southern. FWIW, as a kid, we called the female adult friends of my parents “Miss <Firstname>”, married or not, though we aren’t from the south. Shimmer apparently has a stealing issue, as the Butlerette keeps saying that “Shimmer took it.” We’ve partly solved that by telling her to tell Shimmer to give it back. (also when the show isn’t on)
Berenstein Bears (or however it’s spelled) - She likes it, but it’s not a huge hit.
We have all of these on a rotating schedule (we store 5 of each) on the DVR.
She recognizes Dragon Tails, but isn’t really into it.
I soooo hate you for this! I have been walking around all day now going
* This is sewwious, mothuhfuckuh!*
As for the OP I’m very lucky my kids (age: 4(g),3(g) and 3(b)) love the old cartoons on** boomerang. ** They watch Scooby Doo,* Snorks*, the perils of Penelope pitstop, and there favorite morning show *Hong Kong Phooy * (number one super guy)
As for the bottom of the list, in order from not so bad to what the hell
Barney – yeah he’s annoying but pretty much harmless
caliu – I don’t even know how to spell his name, but if that bald little fuck doesn’t get ass kicked in an up coming very special episode…
Telatubies – For the love of Jesus it’s going to end with a gun, I just know it.
Boohba – :eek: What…The…freaking…Hell. If you have never seen it, all I can say is there are not enough drugs in the world.
We were on a huge Charlie and Lola jag for a couple months, and our kid did pick up the accent on words unfamiliar to her (concentrate and “ogah” for ogre spring to mind) and she picked up a bit of Lola’s highly idiosyncratic speech patterns, but only in a completely adorable way.
My new favorite (and she likes it quite a bit too) is Super Why! on PBS. It’s for older children, but it’s a lot of fun, and great for reading readiness. Warning: do not watch the Rapunzel episode (in which Rapunzel gets a haircut) on the same day you give your kid a shiny new pair of scissors.
