• There seems to be an assumption here that, because the social structure says he *ought * to be straight, then there are automacially mitigating factors which pertain only here and do not apply if he is not straight.

Its not a matter of if he knows he’s straight or not. That is not so important. The two points I would raise in answer

1. Looking at statistics only (not always the best way) chances are he is straight
2. There are A LOT of social and peer issues that make gay sex more complicated, it is because of these issues, rather than the sex itself, that I think the situation is different.
