I’ll be honest, which is something you are incapable of - I was not wooshed by your statement. not even a little bit - I saw it for what it was then and I called you on it in the same tone. You clearly wouldn’t know the truth if it bit you on the backside.
Those that are curious can find the exchange here- was I wooshed or not?
Do not even pretend the misspelling of simster was a Freudian slip. Add this to the previous evidence of the dishonest tactics used to support the Witness agenda.
Witness Math (My numbers should be double-checked. I’m weak on statistics)
World Population: 6,924,228,058
Jehovah’s Witnesses: 7,000,000
Only .1% of the world population are Jehovah’s Witnesses (the rest of us are destined to Cease for all eternity. Them’s the breaks. That’s what we get for turning away uninvited solicitors.)
63% of Witnesses leave the church and are shunned at some point
So why do the Witnesses on this board and those I encounter in real life seem so very smug? These numbers are dismal. Is it because of the 144,000 Anointed who will be reincarnated, the 8,500 living self-selected Anointed Class *just know *they are the Chosen Ones. Are those the guys I keep running into? The caste system established by the governing body seems pretty cut and dried. I mean, why risk getting bumped? If the Anointed have a reseved seat in the Divine First Class, why bother with those riding coach?
There is a reason Witnesses are regarded with disdain in this argument. Witnesses ignore pointed questions here and in real life. They ignore signs intended to discourage pushy strangers and exploit a legal system they do not support because it is ruled by the Devil. (Does using services provided by the Devil make one an adversary of same… or an accessory?) The sanctimonious attitude is so very off-putting, as are the shamelessly deceptive recruiting tactics, the question-dodging here and in real life, and finally: the target audience is evidently the housebound, the physically and mentally disabled, the lonely, the widowed, and the naïve. The defenseless who, based on the odds: have a less than zero chance of making it into Jehovah’s Heaven.
raindog, rather than arguing about whether someone was whooshed or not, perhaps you could explain what a table covered with vomit has to do with the clergy-laity division.
In response to your statemement about a target audience: to paraphrase Yankee manager Joe McCarthy, we cannot all be as perfect as you are.
As for “dishonesty”–You’re mighty free with your name-calling!
And those numbers: well, I consider quality superiuor to quantity. And remember the parable about the wheat and the weeds.
An aside to the poster who said something about “elders pushing down”–You have given me a good mind to push YOU down.
Since you clearly have a reading comprehension problem - I didn’t “cite” it - I merely provided the scripture for other readers of the thread - dougie_montie ‘cited’ it as a reference for his statement regarding other religions, or mainstream churches. And you’re right, I am saying the scripture applies equally well, if not better, to the ‘wisdom’ that comes from the WT society and its two SDMB reps.
But this isn’t authorization, a command, or instructions. If anything, it’s self-reporting, assuming Jesus did utter these words. Here: read it in multiple translations and show me where Jesus or the authors of this passage command any disciples to go door to door.
Where? Please show me the command to proselytize door to door.
Also, please demonstrate justification for using the US court system to advance your sales while boycotting political support and service, military and police service and voting. If you commandeer political benefit while Satan is in command, are you an accessory to his service, or not?
Yeah, I’m not perfect, hell I’m not even anointed. I believe the tactics employed by JW’s are dishonest. I believe the refusal to answer direct questions in this thread are dishonest. I believe you lied when you accused me of name-calling, while you yourself labeled others “imsolent clods”, “sex perverts” and “sinister”.
Okay, but since your practice skips the entire population of all institutions of higher learning including private, state, and community colleges, (68% of high school grads) I am not quite sure how you figure quality is a factor, unless “screw 'em, the smart ones don’t get to hear the Good News” is another command I can’t find in the Bible.
But based on the numbers and the replies in this thread: the unwanted soliciting by JW’s is an unwanted nuisance, you are NOT divinely commanded to knock on doors, and the JW method for spreading the good news isn’t working.
Because you’re incredibly sure that simster was whooshed - twice - but have yet to explain in what way.
So what you’re saying is that you are the one that was whooshed. simster only quoted the text in the thread. dougie_monty was the one that first made the reference - a reference that came out of nowhere and makes no sense in the context of the thread. What does a vomit-covered table have to do with the clergy-laity division? Because that’s where he dropped the cite, right after making that remark. Hell, what does a table covered with vomit have to do with this thread?
All simster did was tell dougie that his spewings aren’t any better than the spewings he cited.
I think it’s clear that **raindog **thinks that he is terribly clever, or that everything that doesn’t fit his program is a joke. Look at his contribution to this IMDB thread “Is There Anybody You Wouldn’t Vote For Just Because of What They Are”.raindog lists all the belief systems he wouldn’t vote for but never admits that he does not and will never vote.
He has no inkling of how seriously some of us take this right and privilege, and how heavily some of us carry the weight of those like him who contribute nothing but benefit profoundly from our efforts. Even though he benefits from protection by the military, police and all other civil servants, the Constitution and Amendments that allow him freedom to practice his religion, and the court decisions that allow his kind to darken our doors uninvited. There couldn’t be a more dishonest, deceptive, deceitful, misleading answer to a poll. He isn’t even supposed to be hanging out with unbelievers yet here he is in this thread: avoiding direct questions and convinced he’s yanking the chains of those who clearly oppose his agenda. And you know why? Because no one in his family or congregation knows he is doing this. If they did, the observer would be equally condemned if he or she didn’t tattle, and raindog would be in serious trouble with the KH. Anonymity is his pass to waste our time.
I would pit him, but I’m certain that action would swell his martyred head even more. (For the Witnesses and formers who provided genuine answers to this thread: thank you. Your input definitely helped me feel more tolerant and receptive to the knock.)
I’m sorry raindog, I didn’t realize you needed a woosh to make your quota for the month. I wouldn’t want you to miss out on the feast and all, so, we’ll just call this a ‘spiritual woosh’ and you can claim all the rewards that go with it. It will go along nicely with your other made up awards.
For everyone else on the thread - I do apologize (honestly) for the derailment of it between raindog and myself - he prefers to keep threads like these off topic - and I allowed myself to (again) be party to it.
Trust me - It won’t happen again - I will no longer respond to raindog’s attempts at baiting in this thread - and will only respond to any substantive posts he makes (which are few and far between).
