Re: Jehovah's witnesses at the door

Unwanted? We shall see. (Acts 5:38, 39. --d.m. )

Amen.

If I want your product, I’ll look for it online. Do not disturb my peace.

BTW, I do have a way to send the JWs packing. It’s polite. I ask three questions. The first two are easy, but for some reason no one has ever come back with an answer to the third. I invite them to come back when they can. They haven’t in 30 years…

I’d be interested in your three questions -

    • What is your name?
    • What is your quest?
    • What is the average airspeed of an unladen swallow?

Yea, I’d be interested in these 3 questions…

  1. Your religion believes that only 144,000 people are going to heaven (from their interpretation of the Book of Revelation)? Their answer: Yes!
  2. Since the creation of your church in the 1870s by Charles Taze Russell, would it be fair to assume that at least 144,000 of your faithful has died? Their answer: Yes?
  3. My religion and my Bible says that Heaven has no bounds on population…Can you tell me why I would want to join a religion in which I have no chance at Heaven?

Their Answer:

I’m still waiting, and it’s been 30 years…

You know, a trap door would be funnier…but disposing of the bodies would pose a problem.

African or European?

1.) def yes
2.)They actually count back to the time of Christ for the start of the 144,000 at this point - when Rutherford set the number (that was considered sealed in 1935) he was really counting those tht stayed with him after the split when Russell died.

3.) Thats actually pretty easy even given their belief system - as they believe in a ‘paradise on earth’ for the rest. that would be on par if not ‘better’ than heaven - “The Meek shall inherit the earth” and all that - so, the reason they don’t come back to answer you is they realize that it would be a waste of time.

Better questions would be:

1.) What is your principal message? - that the time has come and we are in the last days of this system?
2.) What does Luke 21:8 have to say about that? *
3.) Who does the bible say is the mediator between god and man? Who is yours? **

If you get them to even continue the conversation past that point - ask them if the Watchtower ever resorted to spiritists or the pyramids to back up thier claims and/or translations (Johannes Greber for John 1:1, Studies in Scriptures on the Pyramid stuff - using it to set the date are two really quick examples) - and when they say that the WT writers/leaders are still 'just men", then ask why they follow ‘men’ who have clearly been misleading the flock and not following the bible since day 1 of the ‘organization’?

  • For being bible students, this scripture is often missed in thier literature - when I did a search thru their own CDs, it was only referenced once, back in the 1950s, and all other references were as a group cite about the “signs of the end times” in their literature, but the specific scripture in not discussed. Heck, One of the “Studies in Scriptures” book titles was “The Time is at Hand”. If you corner a JW with this, they will say that the scripture doesn’t apply to them, as they are the ‘chosen ones’ by god to spread this message (if that isn’t a clear reference to “I am he”, I don’t know what is).

** Compare 1 Timothy 2:5,6 and Watchtower 1979 April 1 p.31 where it says “So in this strict Biblical sense Jesus is the “mediator” only for anointed Christians.” and remind them who the “anointed are” in the eyes of the Watchtower (the 144,000) - which effectively makes the 144,00 the mediator between the “flock” or “great crowd” and Christ- (who was it earlier, that said there isn’t a clergy laity division?)

Why, do you suppose, haven’t they answered you in 30 years?

Why don’t you take the opportunity to answer it now, or are you not a member ?

Well, because I’m interested in his perceptions on the matter.

You could answer the question(s) and still get his perceptions - but this is really just your way of avoiding giving an answer - which is typical of all your responses.

I asked him, not you. Chillax.

He clearly wants an answer - or feels like the question ‘scares’ the JW away - or that they can’t (or won’t) answer it - I’d like to know your answer to the questions - you wanted to know his questions - presumably to ‘answer’ them - if you wanted his perception as to why they wouldn’t answer his questions, you could have asked for that before.

So - will you or won’t you answer his three questions for him - dear god man, he’s been waiting 30 years for the answers - help him out a little.

so - Yes or No - will you answer his questions?

I will tell you this… I won’t answer yours:smiley:

Fair enough, since I have absolutely zero reason to believe anything you write, but I am still curious as to whether or not you intend to answer HIS questions.

If history is any teacher - we already know that answer as well.

Good Day, Sir.

Good day, sir.

You’re so polite!

I like that.

Dude, are you still trying to get the last word in WITH A JEHOVAH’S WITNESS? That’s like trying to outrun a cheetah or beat a monkey at arm-wrestling. It’s not going to happen.
