While the joke in question is certainly offensive (albeit funny), I think you are confusing the Special Olympics with the Paralympics. In the case you’re suggesting, the quote would run: "This particular battlefield I’ve yielded due to the ancient saying (which sounded so much better in Greek) “To argue with snarkers on a message board is like competing in the Paralympics; even if you win, you’re still an elite athelete who’s crippled”.

I thought you meant that in my post, the phrase “trolling attention whore” was equally applicable to myself or Sampiro.
As for trolling Sampiro, never meant to (that woud be like trying to attract flies to rotting meat). My only point was that BBS2K’s comment, although it would have been extremely trollish if he had made it in the thread about Sampiro’s mom’s hairdo, was perfectly valid in this thread.
Every pitting of a person can be labelled as trolling. If we are going to start labelling everbody a troll for posting in the Pit, then there goes the joke of the word.

Rather than parse the term you could actually explain why you think Sapo and my sole objective was to “just to get a reaction”. Seems to me you have retreated from a direct accusation into some gentlemanly discussion over definitions.

I just can’t get as worked up about this stuff as you guys, so if I seem gentlemanly it’s because I just don’t care as much as you do. I’m not really interested in what I’m sure, to you, is a complex and dramatic backstory between various posters on a message board.
**Sapo **made an ambiguous statement implying that either he or Sampiro, or both, were trolling. He says he did it for plausible deniability, which is plainly false, since you can call someone a troll in the Pit without mod intervention. But you’re actually the more appropriate target of the label. I saw what everyone else saw in this thread, which was you defending those who would take advantage of a man in a time of extreme grief, intentionally antagonizing Sampiro, and then half-heartedly apologizing before leaping back into it. Perhaps troll isn’t the proper word. Would you accept “acting like a dick”?

Just for the record, I have nothing with Sampiro. If I have ever interacted with him before, it must have been for one of his 4-pages rants that I enjoyed. That said, the fact that I have liked his posts before doesn’t preclude from noticing that this time he screwed up. Hey, it happens to all of us, and pointing and laughing is just human nature.
As for my “plausible deniability”, that was bollock, of course. It wasn’t until you made the comment (was it you?) that I noticed that it could be read both ways. Not one to ever shy away from having put one foot in, I just ran with it, even if it was at the risk of getting the other foot in. My sense of ridicule went with my milk teeth.
Aaaaat any rate, The whole Sampiro thing was just a minor hijack on this thread about something else, and Sampiro himself let it go a long time ago. Chillax, dude. So you misused the word “troll” big deal. It isn’t the first time nor the last one for any of us. Hakuna matata and all that.

I really don’t think this is the case. I think he asked you a question, and just let enough time go by in order to allow you to answer it. After enough time elapsed and he did not get clarification, he thought he’d ask for some. What does, or does not, constitute trolling is a real debatable issue. I believe in the past he’s started threads in order to open debate over what exactly is the definition.
As I said in my OP, I was puzzled when CarnalK asked where I found out Exy was banned, because it is not like him to “troll” for the name dropping of the other board. He’s not afraid to openly refer to it, but not in an attention-grabbing sort of way.
But I am with Richard Parker, this is my last post as well. The only reason I’m posting now is because I can see it’s been within the hour since the last post.
Just to clarify.
Sapo is no troll, just a sarcastic personality I enjoy.

CarnalK ** is a prickly soul on our boards, but serves a very neccesary function in keeping the board history an open subject.
**Sampiro ** has a crazy streak when under pressure, but I enjoy his contributions immensely.
Richard Parker comes off skeptical over whether baiting and trolling are the same thing, but this board always needs skeptics.
And me still confused about how much content gets “disappeared”, but oh well. I am not a member of the administration so I’ll never know, and I’m fine with that.
