Realization - I don't like the long hair look on guys

Oh, I apologize then!

What’s REALLY funny about this is that neither one of them’s a lady. Or a woman, for that matter.

You folks sure know how to hurt a guy’s feelings. Not that I was going to make out with any of you anyway. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve had short hair for most of my life, until a couple of years back, when my Lady wife prevailed upon me to grow it out. Now, it’s almost to my shoulder blades. I usually keep it tied in a club or ponytail. I am unable to get an ear piercing because the hair in combination with my goatee would brand me a pirate.
Of course, i’m in the SCA, so that’s not necessarily a problem.

I don’t really have a preference myself, though I do find it cool to look like the typical 90’s villain on occasion. If it starts to thin, I’ll likely shave it off, but before that, it’s no trouble to keep long. Once you get past the point where it curls into your ears, it’s all downhill.

Dammit! I lose. Serves me right for having a job!

I have a job, too. I just managed to wall off those pesky ethical instincts that keep me from cheating my employer out of bandwidth and worktime.

I don’t like long hair on me. It’s just something that I find unattractive. Short hair is good - even better if it they’re starting to go bald, and buzz their remaining hair. Ooh, or a shaved head. That’s good too.
But long hair? Yech.

Okay, back to the OP…

I too dislike long hair on men, but, unlike chaotic donkey , there has been no “realization” for me. I have never liked long hair on men.

However in the last few years there has emerged a social phenomenon of…tails… on little boys.

Boys. Yes, little boys! I actually have seen 1st graders with little tails. Ick!!! In case this needs clarification, these children have haircuts that are otherwise “normal” (in my mind, anyway) for male 1st graders which is short hair, that is, until you see the “tail” which are strands of hair grown long (we’re talking long here, like a good 3 more inches) flowing down along the nape of their necks. A tail. I have no more words for this another than a final “ick.”

On you or men?

On men. Don’t particularly like super long hair on me either, but especially not on men.

Yes, I’ve seen that. It’s the comeback of the rat-tail. Or, as I like to call it, the baby mullet.

That’s not new, it was popular for little boys in the late 80s too. Most of my brother’s male first grade classmates had them, him included.

I’m torn on the hair issue myself. I don’t like buzzcuts, but on the other hand I don’t thin 90% of guys look good with hair longer than about chin length, either. I suppose this goes along with my other narrow-minded hair views, I hate really short hair on most women too.

I have always liked long hair on men. Ever since I was little and had crushes on Sebastian Bach from Skid Row, Gunnar Nelson, Axl Rose and Joe Elliott from Def Leppard.

Short hair’s not a dealbreaker for me or anything, but I definitely prefer long hair. My boyfriend, the first long-haired guy I’ve ever dated, has gorgeous long hair halfway down his back. I love it.

I really don’t care about hair length on guys, but Sayid and Sawyer mmmmmmmmm. Maybe the letter ‘S’ makes them pretty.

An ex of mine showed up for a coffee a couple of weeks ago, last time I saw him he had shoulder length hair, this time he had very short hair. Much more attractive.

Oh look I am a fence sitter.
