My runaway winner:
Cars, by Gary Numan.
Just a terrifically geeky song. You have got to love an era in music history when you could have a Top 40 hit with a song entirely composed and produced on a Commodore 128.

I don’t know the name of the singer, but it’s a country song
If You Get There Before I Do"
I will admit it now: I like Celine Dion.
“You Take Me Up” - Thompson Twins
Howard Jones’ entire first album
Every other song by Dead or Alive
“Who Let The Dogs Out” - Baha Men (I think)
“She Blinded Me With Science” - Thomas Dolby. Not only that one but also from the same album: “Windpower”, “One of Our Submarines”, and “Europe and the Pirate Twins”
“Walking on Sunshine” - Katrina and the Waves
“Sex Dwarf” - Soft Cell
“Believe” - Cher
That’s enough I think.
I’m surprised no one has mentioned America yet. Yes, I even like “Muskrat Love”. Sigh.
Umm… not to be picky but Cars was released in 1979 and the Commodore 128 was introduced in 1984 or '85.
Okay, well I have no idea what geeky is but does Life Is A Rock by Reunion qualify? I love that song!
Styx, Journey, and Rush get disparaged a lot but I’m absolutely crazy about Come Sail Away, Lady, Lights, Who’s Crying Now, and Fly By Night.
Oh and Muskrat Love? I like all of America’s hits except Muskrat Love. It’s the track on their Greatest Hits tape that I fast-forward over!
Me too! That’s my song! I love it! Love it love it love it! I have karaoke fantasies about it. Neil Diamond’s da bomb, yo!
Geeky songs? How about Quark Strangeness and Charm by Hawkwind.
Conjunction Junction – Schoolhouse Rock (!)
Lisa-go-Blind I know about the Kimberly connection - I am the biggest Soft Boys fan, but:
1: The Soft Boys are/were cool?
2: Katrina and the Waves won the Eurovision Song Contest

I have a cover of that one done by the Pretenders. It rocks.
Other uncool ones in my collection:
The Unicorn Song and Waltzing Matilda by The Irish Rovers
Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport Artist unknown, but ripped from a Dr. Demento episode
They Ain’t Making Jews Like Jesus Anymore, Ol’ Ben Lucas and Get Your Biscuits In the Oven and Your Buns Into Bed by Kinky Friedman
Bonnie Tyler’s * Total Eclipse of the Heart*
I have more, but I don’t want to go looking…
This song is actually called “Love, Me” and it’s by Collin Raye. And I like it, too. Country schmaltz may be uncool, but I don’t care.
Rolf Harris did “Tie Me Kangaroo Down”.
Hehe…
Ol’ Ben Lucas,
had a lot of mucus…
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again.
Mmmbop, and the rest of Hanson’s first album, is a masterpiece.
Thats song about Crazy Horses or something by the Osmonds
I’ve heard several versions of TMKD, and I truly do not know if the one I have was done by Rolf, but the good Doctor does try to play originals, not covers.
When it’s cotton pickin’ time in Texas, it’s booger pickin’ time for Ben…
“The Bertha Butt Boogie” by Joe Tex
I like America.
Hmmm, what about Gordon Lightfoot?
I’m fearful to even read this thread - because chances are I like most of the songs here…
