Really cool new science website

I’m on a listserv for people working in ecology. An email sent out today introduced me to Publiscize, a website that presents lots of current scientific work to a general audience.

I thought Publiscize was the kind of thing that many Dopers would enjoy, so I’m writing this post.

If you check out the cite, let me know which projects you think are particularly interesting. I haven’t gotten to browse through all the entries yet.

Hmm. What’s the deal? It looks like they’re eager for scientists to sign up. That’s the kind of thing I might be interested in doing, but what am I signing up for? Is this a pay-to-get noticed sort of thing?

I don’t have time to poke around now, but hopefully I’ll remember to check back.

I read that title as “suicide website”

Hey, thanks Scribble. I like what I see so far. Hopefully scientists and researchers will populate it with far more content soon.

Here’s their About page. The video at the bottom sort of sums up the basics.

It seems kind of shallow at the moment – what I mean by that is that at present there are very few different articles featured. So few that on the main page, the same handful are repeated two or three times. I’m sure over time they will end up with far more content.

It looks like they’re aiming for a tumblr-science-page kind of thing, which can only be good.
