I want a site for the Bible verse that states that God is a bricklayer.
Now that is a sstatement I never thought I’d make in my life.

Where was all the cheesy dialog about ‘you mean i am going to burn in hell…’ or ‘I had no idea Jesus came to save me…’…all it is is pictures
I want senseless rants, nonfactoids and requoting his other tracts as proof of his statements…I want amusement factor that is missing!
And to my eyes making a wordless rant implies he doesnt think they can read his regular arguments=\
No, no, no. You’re not thinking big enough - God’s a mason.
Boy oh boy. I hate Jack Chick. The worst thing about his tracts is not just the stereotypes, but the fact that he uses fear to try to get people to turn to Christianity. "So-and-so never found Christ, and now she/he’s in HELL! "
But yeah, the drawing Indian with the “stink lines” and booze bottle was pretty damn offensive. Here’s a question for ya, Mr. Chick: Who introduced alcohol to the Native peoples? white, CHRISTIAN European immigrants! Well Lord-eee-Looooo!
I’ll tell you what’s really offensive about that Chick tract…
Now I’ve got Stairway to Heaven stuck in my head!!!
Was I the only one hoping God’s Free Love Gift would vibrate? And be 14" long? And come with its own kickstand?
I recall reading somewhere, probably on the boards, possibly on Chick’s site itself, that this comic was specifically written to “get the word out” to people who can’t read/speak English, and that he has reworked the art on occasion to focus on different nationalities.
At least, I think it was this comic. Chick Tracts all sort of blend together after a while.
Just to set the record straight, most Indians had been fermenting local plants long before the Europeans arrived. But the eastern tribes were an exception. And it was quite destructive. Incidentally, the stereotype of modern alcoholic Indians is misleading. Indians don’t drink any more than other other ethnic groups, and less than some. But for a variety of reasons, we do not cope well with alcohol in general. Here is some more information:

I believe the descriptions of the tracts is a bit enlightening:
Italics mine.
So, great for children because it uses pictures and very few words, redrawn with stinky native americans = great for illiterate native americans apparently.
I would call that a blessing. Had it happened to me while reading Chick’s tract, I might have been convinced it was a sign from God.
Fortunately, it didn’t happen…
Well, then, the OP would have a point, indeed.
I must bow to superior research and admit that Chick actually drawn an offensive tract…
Yes that is true, fermentation methods were cultivated much earlier, but indeed European-introduced alcohol did do a major amount of damage. I know all too well about the “drunken Indian” stereotype; I’m part James Bay Cree. (I can’t even drink myself - makes me sick!)
Well…Following this thread, I noticed for the first time that Chick has tracts “adapted” to different audiences.
For instance, I just read the french , the french african and french polynesian versions of “this was your life” , each depicting different characters, using different drawings, etc…
Sorry…Here’s the correct link for the Tahitian version.
Well…trying again : Tahitian version
The kids do love their stinky native americans
It’s not like anyone forced it down their gullets.

That’s true, but as one of the links I gave explains, the overall genocide and holocaust of whole tribes eventually left Indians emotionally desolate, and the escapism of drunkenness came to be more appealing than the sharp vision of reality. When nearly your whole culture has fallen dead around you from slaughter, disease, and war, being alive is not consolation — it is torture.
I’m not one to defend Chick, but I think the people taking offense at the stink lines are missing the point here. Adam and Eve have the soiled skin and stink lines, too. They’re meant to represent the idea that all people are tainted by the original sin Adam and Eve comitted by eating from the tree, and the only way to cleanse oneself of that sin is to find Jesus.
As Chick tracts go, this one isn’t that bad, and actually contains a message fairly close to mainstream Christianity.
…and may I say, the Franco-africaine one is quite well drawn! Special mention due for the full-frontal frame of the sinner being cast into the LoF and in mid-dive getting a flareup of flames right in the nuts! (and the faceless God gets screen-toned black, too!)
