Recast....Box Office Bomb "The Alamo"

If Disney was going to remake, The Alamo, they hired the wrong Casting Director.
What a sorry bunch of Sea-Level actors. What made the 1960 Alamo Epic so
entertaining was the All-Star Cast. Laurence Harvey, was Magnificent as
Col. William Barrett Travis.

Here would be my choices:

1. William Travis...............Liam Neeson
2. Davy Crockett..............Kevin Costner
3. Jim Bowie.....................Tommy Lee Jones
4. Sam Houston............... Gene Hackman
5. Santa Ana.................... Wes Studi

Yeah. The Kevin Coster could leap off his horse, wrestle Santa Ana to the ground in super slow-motion, turn to the camera and scream, “I INVOKE THE SEVENTH LAW!!!”

Isn’t giving Costner a big budget remake of a big budget bomb just ASKING for trouble? Or are you figuring the fact that it’s already bombed will negate the Costner Suck-Bomb Factor?

Costner’s acting ability is under-appreciated and often maligned by
Couch-Potato Bobblehead wanna-be movie reviewers…
Costner reminds me alot of Steve Mcqueen,who when he was alive,
was not well accepted by Film Critics…

Costner would be ideal for Crockett! He’s already proved he’s a damn good
Cowpoke in Tombstone and more Lately, Open Range.The transition to Front-
iersman would be no challenge.

Maybe right now just ISN’T the time to show movies about Americans (the viewing public will consider Texans to be Americans) NOT winning a battle.

Saw it. Liked it. Thought Billy Bob rocked it right down to the ground.

Gotta say I strongly question the opinions of anyone who thinks Kevin Costner would be better than Billy Bob at anything.

You know, there’s a certain irony in you trashing “couch potato bobblehead wannabe movie reviewers”, then putting the man in the wrong movie (he was in Wyatt Earp, which was ok, not Tombstone, which rocked the house).

I saw The Alamo the other day. Good movie; I thought Thornton nailed it as David (not Davy) Crockett.

Apparently, this thread has become all about Bashing Costner…
As I was typing in his name to the real purpose of this thread and that is to
re-cast the box office bomb,The Alamo,I knew there would be those of you
who are his detractors. The same ilk who despise,Richard Gere.

I thought it would be fun to re-cast it and maybe make Disney some $$$$$.

The Central Figure at The Alamo is Travis,in the Original John Wayne Epic,
Laurence Harvey was Brilliant and Carried much of the movie on his shoulders.

In the Remake,Disney gambled and through shoddy casting,selected a relative
newcomber to play the “Central Figure” of Travis…

So the Movie is not Commercially successful…

Youre Challenge is to re-cast the roles,to make it a Box Office hit…
no ones done that yet…

Maybe they could re-do it with monkeys, like TBS used to do. That’d make a worthwhile movie!

Or maybe they could get The Rock to star and give Santa Anna The People’s Elbow off the top of the Alamo…

Houston.... Jesse Ventura
