Reccomend an X-box game please

I will be purchasing both an X-box and a larger TV this weekend and spending most of Saturday enjoying my indulgence.

I have a couple of games in mind and a couple that I really liked and was hoping some dopers might have suggestions for similar games, or ones I might like.

First, these are a couple of games I’m contemplating getting.

Halo (gotta have the original, right? Plus you can get it cheap used)
Mech Assualt - I remember playing a similar game on PC maybe 10 years ago and loved it. Hopefully I’ll like this one as much
SSX tricky (or something like that) A fun snowboarding game I played at a friends house. It may be number 2 or 3.

I don’t really need GTA3 or VC as I played those to death on PS2… I mean, I played them so much it’s sick… (never could get 100% though. I thought I’d gotten everything and not used any cheats but I guess I missed something!)

Now, I like Halo a lot. I was entertained by SOCOM:US Navy Seals on the PS2. I found Brute Force to be kinda fun.

I suppose I like mostly FSP’s, but as long as it’s challenging and fun it’ll do. I’m also looking for games that have available networking, but probably not X-Box live.

Hope someone can give me a hand on this!

ps… is there anything I should look at when I buy one? I’m planning to get a refurb. They have the one year guaruntee on them and you can’t beat the price!

Spiderman and Prince of Persia are pretty tight.

Crimson Skies is very good.

So is Prince of Persia if you like jumping puzzles.

Splinter Cell is a Metal Gear Solid-ish game; it’s gotten lots of praise & attention but didn’t do anything for me.

Let’s see, you already mentioned Halo…

Knight of the Old Republic has a great story if you like Star Wars.

Other than those two my xbox has mostly been a low-end DVD player for the past three and a half years.

The good games are coming though! (I’ve been saying that since launch, by the way :slight_smile: )

Halo is a must.

Knights of the Old Republic is a must, must, MUST.

It didn’t do so well but I really liked Obi-Wan for X-Box (look! I’m a jedi!)

I thought Wolverine’s Revenge was really good, too. But it’s bloody. And not in that dispassionate shooting kind of way. You’re killing bad guys up close and personal with those claws.

My friend has Knights of the old republic and loves it. I’ll probably borrow that when he’s done.

I did like Metal Gear Solid, so perhaps I’ll give splinter cell a shot.

Thanks for the recs… I’ll have to rent a couple of them before I’m willing to shell the full amount, but at least now I have some ideas of what I’m looking for.
