Recent movies you can watch every time you see them on TV.

We have had threads before about older movies you stop and watch every time you see them in the on screen guide.
Among recent movies(last 15 years) I have really only noticed 2(technically 4) that are added to my collection of everwatchables.

Lord of the Rings(all three, but they count as one)
Guardians of the Galaxy.
Everything else recently requires at least a year since the last watching, or a level of desperation where there is nothing on.

Bridesmaids has been on lately and I think I have left it on from various middle points to the end, about 3 times so far. Other than the too-long bridal shower scene, I still laugh and laugh.

Strangely, Tom Hanks appears in two movies that I just cannot flip past:

  • Forrest Gump
  • Apollo 13.

In fact Apollo 13 was on just yesterday and I watched it from just after the 02 explosion on. It’s a marvelous movie.

Forrest Gump is the USA in a microcosm from Elvis to the high-tech boom, and the music is the soundtrack to my life.

Zombieland. Fortunately, it’s fairly short; not like getting sucked into Goodfellas.

The Pixar movie Cars. I haven’t seen a whole lotta new movies since my son was born. But I really truly do love this one.

Is fifteen years a absolute cut-off? there are some films that are just slightly older that I never miss. Priscilla, Queen of the Desert came out in 1994, and I never miss it. Also 1993’s Searching for Bobby Fischer.

I’ll second Apollo 13, but that was 1995.

I can tell you which L&O, L&O:SVU, and BBT eps I never miss.

(I missed the 15 year cut off. Oops.) :o

Fargo

I think Ratatouille qualifys as from the last 15 years, but I honestly can’t remember. If so, that’s my entry. Whenever I feel blue and need a boost, it’s my go-to.

Fifth Element.

I’m not sure, yet, if I could watch them every time they’re on, but yesterday I turned on the TV and the Hangover was on. Watched the second half of that and all of Hangover 2 (seen both of them at least once or twice already). I don’t remember if I’ve seen H3, but if it came on after that I may have stayed up to watch it too (even though it was really late and I had a horrible migraine).

Tremors
Avengers

I was going to cite Pulp Fiction, but what’s this, that was 21 years ago???.

Damn.
mmm

Lately I find the two Hobbit movies extremely watchable. Not that I am all that enthralled with them dramatically, I just like the visuals so I leave them on while I do other stuff. Some great fantasy imagery in those movies.

I also watch Man of Steel when it’s on. The battle scenes are great, jsut the way I’d always pictured superhero fights, blowing through buildings as if they were made of tissue paper and such. Once again, not for the drams … I dont know if I’ve watched any of these three pics with the sound on all the wya through. In fact I am sure I have not.

Me too. I will add:

The Princess Bride
Independence Day
ST: Wrath of Kahn (oddly the only Star Trek movie on the list)
Aliens
Blazing Saddles (unless it’s cut)
Jack Reacher (I really thought I’d hate the casting of Tom Cruise, but nope)
Brides Maids
Identity Theft

The Other Guys

Can never move past that one

A Few Good Men
Trading Places
Casablanca

And yes, The Sound of Music. I always think I’m just going to watch a little of it, but dang…
Oops-- you said recent. Sorry. <slinks away>
