See, I think you’ve got it backwards. They didn’t make the boxes for all the little letters to fit in, they made stretchy lines. You can type as few or as many words as you want, and the lines stretch around the words to fit. (Try this at home: type a whole bunch of words and the lines go all around the words. Then delete all but a sentence, and the lines shrink back up to fit the sentence. It’s fun!)
You can also take little pieces of the stretchy lines to underline just a word or two. (like this)
Ambivalid, if you were on the Internet Design Team that came up with the stretchy line concept, I’d like to bake you a big pan of Internet brownies.
Ok, that’s it. I’ve remained silent long enough. I’m all for giving credit where credit is due, but the fact of the matter is Ambivalid had absolutely nothing to do with the Stretchy Line Concept. That was my team.
I’ll grant that Ambivalid’s group did a fantastic job on the windows, but when it came time to integrate my team’s stretchy line concept with his team’s fitting the little window in the others concept, Amivalid was nowhere to be found. He was always off with this chick named Lisa, who headed up the Search Engine team.
We ended up working strictly with Ambivalid’s second, who helped to make for a smooth integration, despite Ambi’s absence. That person also posts to this board, but I’ll leave it to him/her to reveal their identity.
Later, Ambivalid got me fired when I publicly gave credit to his assistant.
And deservedly so. While I am a humble man and don’t do this for the glory, I draw the line at frauds trying to steal my thunder. SLC was my brainchild and my team and I had been developing it for years.
