Having just seen The Aviator I want to know more. So what’s a good book on the bloke? I really want to know about his nutter period in later life, more than the period covered in the film.
Any suggestions?
Citizen Hughes by Michael Drosnin. Picks up about ten years after the end of the film.
Howard Hughes and his Flying Boat by Charles Barton covers about the same period as the movie, and is highly readable. Suit yourself, but I’d rather not dwell on Hughes’ mental decline later on.
