My two kids have limited experience with video gaming. Mostly Minecraft and the Lego titles on our Xbox 360. But Covid struck and so we’ve been letting them play on my PS4 because they have friends and cousins that can also play on that platform. World of Warships has been popular with my 6 year old boy and is a violence level I’m comfortable with, Fortnite or PubG not so much. I’m heading to Walmart in a bit to pick up another controller so both kids can play Minecraft on the PS4 split screen and online with their fiends, but I wanted to ask you guys what else would be good for them and their friends for online play.
Portal Knights might be worth a look. It’s very nice-looking, has elements of Minecraft (rather more superficial though) and has online multiplayer (don’t think it has local split-screen). It does have a lot of combat too, but Japanese cutesy rather than gory.
Rocket League is fantastic and essentially non-violent. The competitive nature of it might be a struggle though.
Another nod to Rocket League. It is very competitive outside of Casual but I do know there is/was a 9 year old that made Grand Champ, so there’s that.
Overcooked! Great fun multiplayer.
