I recently watched the anime series Erased, which I would call a lighthearted mystery.
I enjoyed it, and am looking for recommendations on similar series. In particular I’m interested in the following.
The series is already complete.
Not too long. I don’t want to take up something where the episode count is up into the triple digits.
Something that is a mystery but that also leans towards more fun and lightearted. Maybe it’s about who stole the school mascot or something silly. Maybe it is about a murder, but the subject matter isn’t approached in a dark way. Basically not something where almost everyone dies and the people who survive are left very depressed because everyone else is dead.
Please suggest anything like this, but please remember to not spoil the solution to the mystery .
I can’t think of anything off the top of my head that closely fits your criteria, but you could try Detective Conan/Case Closed. It has a gigantic episode count, but it is many episodic stories not a single arc.
I didn’t find Erased particularly light-hearted, although I did enjoy it.
Another is similar in that it deals with a mystery. It has light-hearted moments, but I feel it’s a little more serious than Erased. There is a body county. 12 episodes.
Another one that just came to mind is In/Spectre which deals with multiple mysteries and has some supernatural elements to it. Probably a little closer to what you’re looking for. 12 episodes.
The Promised Neverland is fairly light hearted until you find out the mystery. It’s not finished but season 1, which is all that is out, is only 12 episodes. It’s on Netflix.
“The story follows a group of orphaned children in their escape plan from an orphanage after they realize a dark secret.”
