Recommend some Cello Music

Speaking of stereotypical

I love Yo Yo Ma’s Appalachia Waltz.

I adore Dvorak’s cello concerto (in B minor, I think)

Nancy Kulkarni plays Classical Indian music on cello (Dhrupad to be more precise). Incidentally her Indian teachers have told me that the only western classical music they really feel can compete with the emotional force of Indian classical is Bach’s cello suites (already linked upthread - they are beautiful).

Three links to the amazingly beautiful music of a gentleman who goes by Takenobu (full name-Nick Takenobu Ogawa. The thrid link is a Bob Dylan cover (‘Don’t Think Twice It’s All Right’). I saw him live; he did some original compositions, some traditional folks songs, and a cover of Justin Timberlake’s ‘Cry Me a River’ which segued into a Britney Spears tune, ‘Toxic’. And IT WAS AWESOME. His playing is gorgeous, he has a lovely singing voice, and he’s uncommonly handsome to boot. I have been dying for someone to ask me to recommend a good cellist ever since experiencing his music. Please check him out!
