Redesign American Gladiators

I’m sure many of you miss American Gladiators. Then they tried to bring it back with the WWF feel with that god-awful show that I forge the name of.

But the show is not back yet. So in preparation of winning the lotto and gaining some clout in the tv show industry, let’s redesign American Gladiator to make it even more EXTREME and AWESOME and COOL and EXTREME and TOUGH and you get the idea.

So how about the rings? We could totally bring back the rings, but instead of one contestant vs one gladiator, we make it two contestants and two gladiators. Thus we enter game theory, do they contestants work together, or do they actually try to hinder each other as well? Do the gladiators team up? I think that would be an awesome dynamic.

What do you guys think? How would you redesign American Gladiators?

Speaking of the rings, I always thought that it would be AWESOME to have a monkey or two swinging around on the rings along with the gladiators and contestants.

Angry monkeys, taking swings at gladiators and contestants alike.

Also, in the game Assault, the gladiators should shoot paintballs rather than tennis balls at the contestants, because that would be AWESOME, EXTREME, and TOUGH!

On the Wall Climb, it would be TOUGH if they randomly greased some handholds, AWESOME if maybe some had a low-level electrical current running through them, and EXTREME if the contestants could have a pugil q-tip strapped to their backs to fight off the advancing Gladiators, while handing from a handhold.

The giant steel ball cages could be AWESOME, EXTREME, and TOUGH if some elements were added to the set. Water sprays, fog machines, giant (and thoroughly EXTREME) wind turbines could further distract and impair contestants and gladiators alike, leaving them windblown, soaked messes by the end.

Women must wear bikinis.
Men must wear spandex jockstraps.

well the best “redesign” of american gladiators was its imitator “knights and worriors” the chicks wer hotter too.

As long as you keep Assault as is, Im fine.

You also had that remake program… Wild West was it? Where it was all Wild West Themed Games…

The best thing about Knights and Warriors was that the stunts looked like they could go seriously wrong at any minute and a Warrior would kill a Knight. Tennis balls gonig really fast never gave me that kind of reaction.

but in the event that a helmet came off or someone did get hurt(which did happen) the “king” was there to stop the match so the protective gear could be replaced and the match could continue.

If it ain’t a frickin’ blood sport, it ain’t worth watching,

I think it would be AWESOME if the show were redone as a frickin’ HOME IMPROVEMENT show where the Gladiators came charging in at regular intervals and just CREAMED members of the team doing the renovations with flying tackles. Especially while they were painting or carrying large pieces of furniture around.

Hmm… I never saw that one. However, it doesn’t sound very interesting.

ANNOUNCER: “Here comes the knight! He is set for attack, and the contestant is … um… worried.”

Wasn’t there something on UPN for a while? Battle Dome??

Earlier Episodes of American Gladiators had the similar cheese factor… the Judges would Judge with the Thumbs up // down. I remember an early JOUST game, ((back before there was two seperate pedestals)) Nitro committed a foul of some sort, and got called out of the match. - I think giving full points to the contender.

But I think we are all in agreement that “Sky Track” should be dropped. I never did get the problem with it, but then, What contender had a shot at practice with the velcro inverted track? That Two Scoops guy?

Oh, and not to forget “Guts” “Global Guts” and “Gladiators 2000” all juvenile extensions of our favorite fitness related hour long game show.

Hey, he was giving 847,000% every day! Lordy, that guy was a jackass…
