Reese's Pieces Pronunciation

I just returned from buying Halloween candy for the kiddos tomorrow. I only got the good stuff, because I was a kid once, too, and crappy candy on Halloween is a bad thing. I picked up Snickers, Twix, M&M’s, and Reese’s pieces. As I admired my purchase, I muttered the names of the candy to myself, and became aware of saying “reesees peesees”, as though they rhymed. Do you pronounce these words, in this context, as a rhyme?

Their Mad Men thought so:

Master pieces. Resses Pieces...

I pronounce them the same even when they’re not together… “ree-sus pee-sus”. Not sure where you’re getting “reesees” from.

Yeah, whether they’re pieces or peanut butter cups, Reese’s is still pronounced, “Ree-sus.”

I was expecting a poll. There was no poll. I am disappoint.

I say ree-sus pee-sus too.

People who say “Reesees pieces” should be put in a hole and buried alive along with people who say “kyoopon.” Do people watch Reesee Witherspoon movies?

I pronounce them as a rhyme, but “Reese’s” rhymes with the standard pronunciation of “pieces.” That said, I have heard “ree-seez pee-seez” before, so your pronunciation is not unique.

I say, “Recess feces.”

I am of the species who says ree-sees pee-sees, because it’s goofier that way.

I’d say it’s more REE-siz PEE-siz. Though sometimes that Z becomes an S. The still always rhyme.

Heck, it’s why my dog’s name is Reesis–though we call him Reese for short.

Good thing you don’t call him Rhesus, because that would be weird.

You really pronounce the brand name like the monkey? And “pieces” to rhyme?

Well, the guy in Terminator was Kyle Reese, not Kyle Reesee. So, yeah, Reese’s would be pronounced like the monkey.

Rhee-suz pee-suz.

Jeepers Creepers. NO ONE says “kyoopon”, some of us, however, do say “cue-pon”.

Reese’s and pieces already rhyme to me. Or close, like, “Reese says, Peace says.”

I do. How do you pronounce it?

Like it’s spelled? “Reese’s” has an E sound; “rhesus” has a U sound.

This makes no sense, and I can’t tell how you’re pronouncing “rhesus.”

I don’t say “reesee” either.

So, you pronounce it to sound like “recess”? Or how, exactly?

Of course ‘Reese’s Pieces’ rhymes.

Reese and piece rhyme, and the added s causes the same sound to be added.
