Well, this is a first! In all my years of reading your posts saying basically what I would have said had I got to the thread first, I gotta tell you, you are flat wrong this time!

This. But I’ve never seen the right type of relish out, and not all supermarket chains in my town carry it. Though I’m not that fond of relish on hot dogs, it is okay.
What is red relish? Never seen it.
Interesting. Never seen such a thing. I’ll keep an eye out for it–I wonder if it might be regional.
Del Monte and Heinz both make it, so I’d guess it’s available in most markets.
When Taco Bell opened a chain of fast-food stands in the Moscow Metro 20-odd years ago, they offered hot dogs along with burritos, and put little packets of green relish out on their counters to go with them. The Russians, of course, put the relish on the burritos as well, along with ketchup and mustard. :smack:
The stands are still there, and are very popular. Taco Bell, however, ended its involvement with them a long time ago.
Damn now I want a hamburger at 8am.
Relish in Big Mac sauce, yum.
So, I’m getting the sense that you don’t like sweet relish.
FWIW, no luck in finding them in either of the supermarkets by where I live at least. Will keep an eye out for it, as I love pickles and relishes of all kinds.
The last post on this page does seem to suggest it’s regional, but they’re only talking about the Heinz product.
I should have added a caveat because while I can tolerate other brands of Relish the one I love and will insist on using is B&G Sweet Relish.
Unacceptable.
That relish is a sickly yellowish-green.
Quality pickle relish must be a rich medium green. So what if they have to use a little dye?
The pickle relish itself is still green. It’s just that “hot dog relish” mixes it with mustard. “Hamburger relish” mixes it with ketchup.
Well, after many years of you reading my posts and most likely totally ignoring them (which quite frankly I feel is the right thing to do with most of them) I have to say that I agree that silenus is correct.
One day I saw a shelf full of Mt Olive Pickles and picked up a jar. Some time later I apparently had suffered a stroke and didn’t remember the first and bought a second.
If I ever buy a third I have instructions in place to have me committed.
Claussen is my pickle of choice as far as the national brands go.
See, the problem with that is it means you’re at The Hat and not getting Pastrami. Which, okay, but WHY???
I’m down with all types of relish. I prefer relish with my burger to onions.
