Remakes That Haven't Happened Yet

A remake I would be very torn about,

The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension
I think I’d love it and hate it both at the same time.
I’d also like to see a remake of Phase IV but I’m probably the only one.

Zardoz?

“The gun is good! The penis is evil!”

That actually WAS a remake. It was originally a TV miniseries.

I know – I’ve got copies of both the movie and the TV series.
All the original Quatermass trilogy were first TV series before being filmed. In all three cases, they significantly changed the story of the miniseries to make the movie.

But I’d like to see a remake of the movie, as I said, with better effects.
Just because something was already remade doesn’t disqualify it – there are other items on this list that were already remade.

But the title is Remakes That Haven’t Happened Yet

Buck Rogers would be fun - but probably a bloated CGI event. Let the dystopian folks get ahold of the future and drop a modern day fighter pilot / shuttle pilot / Elon Musk or Richard Branson employee into it all.

Logan’s Run - I agree on re-doing that one somehow. A bt of soylent green tossed in with it.

MASH set in Iraq or Afghanistan. Bring an edgy humor to a pointless war.

I would like to see a decent remake of “Doc Savage”. That one they made back in the 70s was a mess. Done right, it could make a great action movie franchise.

The Goonies, Bloodsport, Roadhouse, Dark Crystal, Gremlins, Ghostbusters, Weird Science.

I was going to say Footloose, but apparently they’ve already remade that.

Great idea. It has the large cast of supporting heroes, the obligatory woman, and if they let Doc upgrade his garage you could have a bunch of nice CGI vehicles.

Question: keep it in the '30s or move it to today?

Lowdown: Ghostbusters is coming out soon. With a female set of Ghostbusters.

Definitely keep it in the '30s. Updating it would be a huge mistake.

Pulp fiction just doesnt translate to the Big Screen very well, the characters are very Black and White, and film producers think that we dont like that anymore.

To Kill a Mockingbird- The film is deservedly a classic, but takes out about 2/3 of the novel including some of its best scenes and characters; also, an allegation to incest is omitted due to codes of the time. I would love to see it remade as a miniseries that contains more of the book.

Gone With the Wind- for reasons I’ve stated many times and similar to above: a miniseries that
1- contains more of the many plots and characters from the novel
2- has an Ashley that’s believable as a teenaged girl’s objet’d’lust
3- is more historical fiction (like the book) than epic bad romance (like the movie)

Supposedly a remake of Forbidden Planet has been in development Hell for quite some time. I guess that would be OK, but the original is just so good (given the time it was made), I fear any remake will not be able to live up or improve on the original.

IDIOCRACY 2: BROUGHT TO YOU BY CARL’S JR.

Yeah, it would make lots of money.
I like money…

A…live action talking unicorn, like Mr. Ed??? why in the world would they do THAT?? The beautiful unicorn wouldn’t be chawing on a wad of bubble gum or something with some current bimbo’s voice coming out, the unicorn is telepathic and you hear her speech in your head. Duh.
