Remember Google! with an ! in it? Or the Green Twttr Logo? Old Web Page designs.

This article brought back a few memories. I still remembered Google! originally had an exclamation mark. I never understood the change.

I had never seen the first Amazon page before. Nor the butt ugly green Twttr Logo. I’m glad they decided to spell it Twitter and use a better color.

Lots of memories here.

I definitely remember google during the beta testing era. I didn’t use twitter back when it had that logo, though.

Too similar to Yahoo!..?

:smack: You’re right. Google! looked like they were copying Yahoo!. So they dropped the exclamation mark.

I’m not sure when the current Google logo came in; I think it must have been the first half of 1999. I certainly remember the old one, and I started using Google in a job I began in November 1998.

I remember looking at Amazon in 1995, but I don’t recall it being quite as basic as the pic shown. The black text with blue hyperlinks on that ugly grey background takes me right back to the early days when I’d first discovered Mosaic, though!

I recall that black text with blue links web designs worked really well with monochrome monitors. I had a Vaxstation with DECwindows in my office back then running Mosaic.

My standard web search engine was altavista for many years. Then Google came along.

Man I am most certainly a “late adopter.” I’ve been around The Internet since about 1996 and I don’t remember any of those! Well Amazon’s “A” logo but they were orange/black as far as I remember.

As a joke, for the current MySpace page, they should have shown a 404.

I remember when Amazon catalog urls often had the cryptic word Obidos in them (a nod to the same place in the Amazon river, as it turns out.)

Speaking of terrible web design, seems The Daily Mail could use a redo.

And not, as many thought, Obi-Wan’s son. :stuck_out_tongue:
